Today we’d like to introduce you to Keep it Clear.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Keep it Clear was born out of the pandemic era. The world has felt pretty chaotic over the last few years, and we wanted to create something that maybe we needed ourselves – a container for integrating our individual and collective experiences, a new model of connecting with ourselves and others.
We are two best friends… we actually joke that twin flames may be a more accurate way to describe two humans who find ourselves perpetually in creative sync… This deck is what happens when an artist exploring processes of change collides with an experience designer who wants everyone to get more real with one another. The deck is a bit of us both – mixing elements of experience design, communal gathering, and visual art to facilitate deeper process and connection.
In a lot of ways, this project is an update to the traditions and practices we love – but our oracle deck isn’t about magical answers. Keep it Clear is grounded in modern themes and questions, informed by our time and mostly informed by you… where you’re at, what you’re needing. Ultimately, we all crave clarity and transparency.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Well… starting a business with your best friend can be taxing on the friendship itself… Ironically, we were spending more time together than ever and yet less time than ever really connecting about life outside of Keep it Clear.
We realized we had to actually come back to the heart of why we did this project in the first place: vulnerable communication and honest expression. TLDR: take a breath, pull a card, and create some work/life separation. Now, we have a chat for just us flames, one for work inspo, and then another for all the logistics of business.
The other challenge we did NOT see coming was how hard it is to make ethically-produced goods in today’s world of profit and margins. It took us many tries and multiple collaborators to find our local team. Now we are happy to say our packaging and product is made from 100% recycled materials.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Keep it Clear is not your basic oracle deck. Our deck really doesn’t fit into any specific box, but who likes labels anyway, right? Ultimately, we think this sets us apart.
We always talk about how we can be in any situation and setting together – the deck mirrors this range. Keep it Clear speaks to a diverse spectrum of humxns and environments. Our card themes are informed by contemporary social & cultural issues with a focus on equity & inclusion. We have a modern visual aesthetic that is gender-neutral… which you don’t see as much in this space.
This isn’t just a tarot deck or prompt deck – it’s a hybrid of both. You can pull a card and work on a journal prompt with your morning coffee… or you can pull a card and spark an awesome convo with a friend…
We consider this project a container for authentic expression and a creative tool for change. Modern humxns figuring out this modern life… less woo, more you.
