Meet Joshua Packard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Packard.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am an only child and movies always entertained me and kept me company when I was younger. I watched them all the time and I would rewind my favorite parts and repeat the lines. I can’t remember exactly when it happened but I knew then that I wanted to be someone that entertained people like those movie characters entertained me. My first acting experience was in 4th grade at school when we did the Lion King Jr. I started to take some theater acting classes and a few months later, I was asked by an art class to be on a segment they were being featured on for PIX11 News called “It’s a G Thing”. Once I saw myself on camera in that segment, I immediately knew he wanted to focus more on the film and TV side of the business. I started to take more acting classes, working as a background actor for film and TV and I got cast in a few student films. Last year I won a Young Artist Academy award for best teen actor for one of these student films which was so exciting. Last Fall, I started my freshman year in high school so I have been focusing on that new chapter but I was cast in a play at school that unfortunately, we didn’t get to perform due to the pandemic.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been smooth and I am sure there are a lot more bumps ahead in this industry. When I was first starting out we got scammed by two different agencies who were taking advantage of people like me who are starting out and don’t know any better. It was frustrating. I am thankfully with a great manager now and I have had some great auditions.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am an actor and model. I am very proud of all the projects I have worked on so far and each one has been a learning experience. What sets me apart is that no one else is like me!

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My parents have always been very supportive of my dream to become an actor. I wouldn’t not have gotten this far without their support. I have had a lot of great teachers and coaches as well.
