Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordyn Raya James.
Jordyn Raya James was born in Upland, California in 2010. Jordyn began her performance career at the age of 18 months modeling for a well-known toddler brand and has since worked on 50 plus print and commercial campaigns to date. Jordyn made her first T.V. appearance in 2014 on the second season of ABC’s Bet on Your Baby. She is best known for her role as Ami in the hit Netflix Series “Family Reunion”, alongside award-winning actresses Lorretta Devine and Tia Mowry. Jordyn has also recurred in the Facebook Watch series “Five Points” and the Amazon Original series “Homecoming” with Julia Roberts. Off script, Jordyn can be seen on the YouTube Series “Kids React” by FBE, which she started in 2016.
Has it been a smooth road?
One obstacle for me was when we lived in Fontana, and I would have to sit in the car for an hour and then hit LA traffic. We moved closer to my mom’s work in Pasadena in 2016. Now most of my auditions are 20 minutes away.
One of the challenges for me working on a multi-cam (multiple camera) show is remembering how to position myself in a scene so that my back was never toward the cameras.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m a nine-year-old kid on a Netflix Family comedy series that was just renewed for season two. We like to say the show is for everyone ages 8-80. I’m working with people my mom grew up watching on TV as a child. Everyone is really nice and I love working with all of them. Myself and the other kid actors love hanging out on and off set, we go bowling, rollerskating and attended each other’s birthday parties.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I can’t wait for everyone to see the second half of season one, and I am excited for all the new adventures the Mckellan’s will get into during season two.
