Meet Jordan Orionn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Orionn.

My journey started at a very young age. I actually remember writing my first song at the age of seven years old.  I can recall calling my father who was traveling for work at the time and singing my song over the phone to him, I was so excited and proud. However, I can specifically identify the age of thirteen. I believe it was at that age that my parents noticed I truly had a passion and gift for music. As a young child, I was exposed to many music genres, such as gospel, R&B, Blues, Jazz, and Hip Hop. It was not until I was introduced to singer/songwriter Amy Winehouse that I began exploring and challenging my vocal ability and writing skills. This eventually led to me writing songs and jingles for other artists, films, and companies. Since then, I have continued to write and sing which has given me amazing opportunities to perform in and around my community. As well as perform outside of my home state of Texas. I was able to cover some of my favorite songs from artists I looked up to and admire. Fast forward, I have been unapologetically putting myself out there which has granted me the opportunity to release my first EP in 2020 titled, “I Am Orionn” followed by my newest singles “Reciprocity” which was released January 2023 and “What’s the Issue” that was released March 2023. In addition to my love for music, I am a creative in general and love the art of expression.

Hi Jordan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a storyteller. I pride myself on telling my truth through words and melodies. However, if it’s not my story I am singing about it, I enjoy the freedom of being imaginative. As I continue growing in my identity as an artist, I want to leave whoever is listening inspired. As well as, feeling a since of familiarity, or just a whole vibe. My mom shared something with me many years ago. She reminded me to pay close attention to the words in a song. My mom said “…listen to the words. The beat might be good but what is being said and what exactly are you dancing to?” So, I pride myself on being intentional with my words and what I am putting into the atmosphere.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey has had its smooth moments, however; I have had obstacles and challenges that have deterred me. Struggles, such as comparing myself to others, not loving and questioning my singing ability at times, or being unable to execute a song because it’s simply not meant for my voice. But as the years continued, I had to understand, accept, and appreciate me for me. Instead of moping around I decided to just embrace my voice and all that it is.  As I started being accepting of my gift, I truly started to see the beauty in my artistry like everyone who supported me did!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a singer and songwriter, however, I am an actress as well. I have been able to express my artistry through films, theater, public speaking, and modeling. I have had the opportunity to be featured in plays, such has ‘Losing Mama’, ‘Four Women’, and most recently ‘Mama’s Daughter’ which premiered in February 2023 and will be showing again in May 2023, Mothers Day weekend. I have also been in films such as ‘Human Resources’, ‘Friend Request’ (I and II), and the documentary ‘One Chance’, as well as several national commercials. On top of all of that, I am in college obtaining my degree in the mental health field. Mental health awareness is very important to me. My ultimate goal and desire is to contribute to the mental health field and bridge the gap between mental health and the entertainment industry. I personally understand the stressors of being a artist. I also recognize that it can be extremely challenging navigating both and I would like to assist those creatives where I can.
