Meet Johnny Jiasheng Chen of Forenext Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnny Jiasheng Chen.

Hi Johnny Jiasheng, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Forenext Design Studio is a story that began with a group of international professionals who happened to meet through various academic events. Our shared interests, friendship, and expertise in related fields led us to come up with the idea of creating a design studio. Despite our diverse backgrounds, cultures, and religions, our journey is filled with excitement.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Collaborating in the studio is simple since we are all very familiar with each other, and each individual is capable of working independently. The fun part is during the brainstorming. We can generate ideas that are both distinctive and tailored to various groups of individuals.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Nowadays, the world is changing rapidly. The goals of the “Forenext” projects are to create new perspectives, experiences, and mediums that allow people to review the past, understand the present, and foresee the future. Forenext Design is an innovative design studio that creates new experiences and provides creative solutions via different design media. We conduct projects from cultural & creative design to visionary avant-garde design.

We are a group of international professionals with different backgrounds, which allows us to create incredible ideas. The studio may be small, but it’s filled with energy and constantly growing. Furthermore, We are excited to share that we have recently welcomed Moataz Abdalla as our new Chief Technology Officer. With the growing demand for engineering expertise, Moataz will be a valuable addition to our team.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Forenext Design is currently focused on creating outstanding projects that can gain recognition through international competitions and press coverage. Our goal is to introduce innovative ideas to the public. However, Generating creative ideas requires a lot of effort to conduct thorough research and physical experiments, which comes with cost and failure. For example, our projects, Slimebox and Wooden Glass, invested much time and consumed many materials. Yet, not every project draws the attention and interest of the competition jury or press, which is the risk and difficulty we constantly consider during the project development.

At our studio, we prioritize the development of innovative concepts. However, we understand that this comes with inherent risk since we are creating objects that have yet to be seen by the public. Nevertheless, we are committed to producing our own unique ideas to the best of our ability.
