Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Niang.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Joe. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Make It Last Events started in 2014. The initial idea came from a birthday of my daughter, Thalina, who was 9 years old at the time. She wanted a photo booth for her birthday, we reluctantly agreed. I had no idea what a modern-day photo booth was like, but was more interested in keeping our costs down than looking for a quality company. That ended being a mistake but started the ball rolling on the formation of a new company. However, during the mid-2013, I got extremely ill and had to have two surgeries. Bed-ridden and in a lot of pain, I was grieved to know that I wasted 6 months of my life being sick with nothing to show for it. So New Year’s Eve, I made a decision that I would start this company. It started as a photo booth company, then we added DJ service, and later on photography and videography.
My brother Moe, later would come on to help.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been smooth. I have lost a business partner that was a good friend at the time. I have used tens of thousands from my 401k to supplement my income. The biggest problem was hiring and maintaining workers. Since the job was part time and weekends based there was a lot of turn over. We had to create a system where we would attract good talent and also retain them. Marketing was also an issue. Although we offered a high-end service and product, we had a difficult time getting cutting our prices and underselling our services.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Make It Last Events story. Tell us more about the business.
Our dedication to quality and affordability is matched only by our professionalism. At Make It Last Events, we understand that every customer is unique but deserves the same level of exceptional service, which is why we offer comprehensive entertainment packages (photography, photo-booth, DJ, and videography) tailored to fit their specific needs and budget. Birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, corporate functions and even religious or cultural celebrations whatever the occasion, Make It Last Events has the talent and experience required to make every special day extraordinary.
The great thing about Make It Last Events is that we’re family-owned and operated. That means we draw on our collective experiences, education and talents to do the best job we can. With backgrounds in customer service, supply chain management, product development, operations and more, we have what it takes to run a successful company.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Oh Yay! But again, knowledge is the most valuable part of any company. And that experience is gained from the mistakes and lessons we’ve learned. One suggestion I have is to have a detailed business plan in place, and to put everything in writing.
