Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Hudnall.
Jessica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I found out I was pregnant with my daughter June 9th, 2014. Two weeks before my college graduation. My grandmother Genevia, was the first person to tell me, when my child’s father and I visit her in Vegas for my birthday weekend. She said “Jessie you looking a little fat from the last time I saw you” I said “ I know I’ve been working out, maybe it’s just the good food and liquor from all partying.” She then said “ No baby girl you’re pregnant!” I was in denial, I quickly came back to LA to take the test and found out she was right. I was devastated and scared because I knew my life would be changed forever.
My first initial decision was to abort my baby because I was so selfish,I wasn’t ready to be a mother. I didn’t want my daughter to struggle the way I did growing up. I vividly remember breaking down and crying on my bathroom floor soon as I saw the POSITIVITY in that stick, all these negative thoughts and emotions weight down on me; but I soon realize there is always a LIGHT at the end of the tunnel. My pregnancy was far from my plans, but God had bigger plans and I am here today four years later as a mother to my beautiful baby girl Jayla Rose and as a business owner of MOMZ “R” FUNNY2. Overall my journey has been exciting and surprising. Let’s justt say I am doing my best to keep up with God.
I started MOMZ “R” FUNNY2 September 2017. I’ve only been in business for 1 1/2 years, and so far I accomplished having my brand in a popular store called KICKS KARTEL located in Sherman Oaks. Second store called KEEP IT VERTICAL CLOSET located on South LA and I soon will be in stores on Melrose located in LA. I also vend at different markets all over the city like Trap Art, The Black Market LA, and Melanin Market LA etc. I have my networking skills to thank, along with the generous people that genuinely support me and believe in my brand. I have too many names to s/o so thank you to all who have supported my brand and sowed seeds to help me grow. You all are greatly appreciated.
Has it been a smooth road?
28 years of my life has been a struggle. Struggling and overcoming obstacles is all I know.
The early struggles in my life from being homeless, going to juvenile hall, and just getting into a whole lot of fights, due to getting picked on, getting kicked out of middle school and high school, going to anger management, and just dealing with the day to day life has all made me a strong person till this day.
I am currently in a place in my business where I am learning how to deal with the ups and downs as then lemons into lemonade.
After all, I’ve been through and overcame, although it’s tough and not easy, I still find it manageable to run my own company on my own terms and being my own boss has been life-changing for me. I feel like no matter what I go through, whether it’s business or personal, I will always find a way to overturn the objections and sprinkle roses to leave my mark.

MOMZ “R” FUNNY2 is a one-stop shop clothing brand for the family& culture ( women, men, & children) with the hopes to leave customers feeling united, inspired, and filled with laughter.
I specialize in custom made clothing, jewelry, and handbags. I am also known for having ROSES apart of most of my designs. I am also known for being an actress and writing/producing my own comedy skits. I am most proud about my Jayla Rose Collection and Glory Zone Collection. Jayla Rose is know to be my accessories collection. I named it after my daughter. All the items are named after her favorite foods/interests. It’s dear to my heart because it is my first collection I started my company with. It the most popular collection within my company so far. Within it, you can find custom made earrings, glasses, and purses. I continuously add New items as my mind expand to more ideas.
As for my Glory Zone Collection, I am proud of this collection because it took me some time to figure out the name and the design, but after praying and fasting, God helps me bring my vision to life. Glory Zone message is for one to feel unapologetic, steadfast, Unbreakable, brave, and to give God the Glory for all things. The good and the bad. This will be the “Nike” to my business. I will continue work and develop designs/clothing for this collection that will have people in awe and ready to purchase!
What sets me apart from others is that I am unique, bold, unapologetic and know my purpose. I want my customers to feel like they can not get products I have anyplace else expect from my clothing line. I want to have the whole family matching from had to toe and when you see them you know it’s from “ MOMZ “R” FUNNY2. Plus I will be a company that will always have Roses in season. It’s a symbolic thing for me.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I was born in West LA and raised in both West LA and South LA. So LA is all I know. Besides me traveling to a few different countries and states. LA is definitely the place to make all your heart desires and dreams come true!
