Meet Jennifer Hovas of Contraband Hats

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Hovas.

Jennifer, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was interested in clothing, textiles and accessories. I had the name (Contraband) and wanted to focus on a particular article of clothing. Looking back, I recognized since I was a baby, child and throughout my teenage years I wore various styles of hats and a lot of my peers didn’t. So, it only made since for me to use my individuality and push forward with Hats, Contraband Hats.

Has it been a smooth road?
There were a few trial and errors in the beginning. When the company was first formed Contraband was being sold in private small boutiques and specialty stores in various cities throughout the US. Then, the economy took a big hit and many private store owners were forced to shut down.

At that point, I realized I wanted Contraband to be an online shopping experience only. I get to interact directly with the customer.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Contraband Hats – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our specialty is headwear. Caps, Beanies, Fedoras, Snapbacks, Fitted Hats. Recently, we have expanded into men’s jogger pants and shorts. Which actually the females have been rocking with a pair of high tops or cute heels.

We were awarded Best Accessory Company in Los Angeles the last 3 years. That was exciting.

We also stay involved in events that support great charities and great causes.

What sets Contraband apart is Contraband. The fabrics are high quality and our price point beats out the other brands.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
LA is amazing. From the mountains to the beach. Energy of the city, great restaurants, people enjoying the outdoors. There is always something available to whatever your likes and interests are.

Dislikes: Traffic. Stay away from the freeways at all times. HA..
