Meet Jade Graham of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Graham

Hi Jade, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started performing when I was very young with my older sister. We would host performances for our family. Eventually, I went on to participate in theatre camps every summer break. I always enjoyed performing and being creative, especially since I’m surrounded by creatives. My dad, grandmother, and aunt Jacquelyne are all talented artists, and my uncle, DJ Research, is a well-known artist in Long Beach. For as long as I can remember, I have always been involved in the arts in one way or another. One day, I said, ” This year I’m going to do something that scares me,” so I took a professional acting class and just kept going from there.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Is the road to your dreams ever a smooth one ? Absolutely not, and I’m no different. Everyone has their struggles to reach that end goal. I think my biggest struggle was my mental health. There were days when I definitely did not feel like I should keep going. Although I still have my days, my family-especially my dad and my aunt Jacquelyne-has helped me see the value in living life to the fullest. I’m always reminded that I can do anything I put my mind to and that it’s okay to dream big. Sometimes the road gets rough; sometimes I get thrown onto an entirely different path. I like to believe that everything happens for a reason, even if I don’t always understand it . Even when I can’t see the path, as long as I keep pushing forward and putting one foot in front of the other, I’ll be okay.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an actor from the Los Angeles area, but I’m also a full-time college student. I’m best known for acting, but I’d like to branch out these next few years and be recognized for much more-a writer, a director, a social worker; I want it all. I think that’s what sets me apart. I want to achieve every single dream I’ve ever had . I’m proud of how far I’ve come because if you had told me a few years ago where I am today, I’d simply be happy that I’m here and that I showed up for myself even when it got hard.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In this industry, there are always new changes, hopefully for the better. I hope to see more people who are kind and supportive of one another. I hope to be alongside more crazy dreamers. I think it’s important to dream big and remain kind while doing so.
