Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Francesconi.
Hi Jack, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
When I was a young child I have always loved making stories and watching films. It wasn’t until a couple years ago however, that I truly found my passion for filmmaking. Therefore I decided to make a career out of my passion and joined the Academy of Performing Arts Multi Media Entertainment Technologies program. I joined the program my sophomore year of high school and from there I have gained much knowledge and experiences in the field of filmmaking. I have completed my own short film titled “Am I The Real Richard Blake” that I produced, wrote, and directed myself. I have also co written the short film “Ratman” and co created and directed the short film “Scotty Scottsdale” and helped create and acted as the lead character in the 2025 academy award winning short film “Timothy”, all of which were premiered at the Academy of Performing Arts Multi Media Entertainment Technologies film festival for my school, Huntington Beach high school. I am now in the process of producing and directing 3 other projects that I have written that will all be completed within the year.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been quite as smooth a road as I would have wanted, but that is a part of what made my journey so meaningful to me. I joined my film program a year late, so had to work hard to get on a level my peers were already at. I had to work harder to prove myself as they had their opportunity to show their talent and what they are capable of within the first year, which I missed out on. Another struggle I had along the way was when I was creating my short film.I had trouble with finding the right actor, as my first choice actor had unfortunately decided to drop out of the film late into production which left me in a hard position of having to find a new actor in a short period of time. My second choice actor confirmed he could be on the project before realizing his schedule wouldn’t allow it and also had to drop the film. Fortunately, I ended up finding an actor who in the end I considered to be the perfect fit for the role I envisioned.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a filmmaker who especially loves writing and directing, and even though I am early in my film career, I am trying to create a distinct voice for my films that gives off a strong vibe of grounded stories with creepy eerie and emotional themes that can all in some way relate back to who I am. I am most known for writing and creating my own unique style of stories as well as always being able to help out any of my peers whenever it is needed. What sets me apart from others is that I’m always available to help out and do whatever is needed for the film, even if it means putting in extra hours. I am also willing to put my personal schedule aside for my film schedule to come first for the best result for myself and my peers.
What are your plans for the future?
Within the next couple of years I hope to get accepted to a college that can help me pursue my career in film. I also plan to write, direct, and produce as many of my own original films as possible. As well as supporting my peers in their future film endeavors. I am currently in the pre-production process of making a film that is very personal to me based off of my own experiences growing up. I hope to create it as realistically to what I envision for this passion project as possible.
