Today we’d like to introduce you to Ina Bakes.
Hi Ina Bakes, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Ina Bakes was born from a long-standing connection between two Santa Monica moms, Carolina Sigbaum and Sabrina Sin, who first met through a local Facebook group eight years ago. After reconnecting in person and discovering their shared passion for pastry, they joined forces to create handcrafted desserts and bespoke confections from their Venice studio. Our collaboration began with a spark of creativity and a shared dream. We first connected through social media, drawn together by a mutual love of pastry. Though our first project didn’t materialize, it planted the seed of friendship and that seed blossomed years later when we found ourselves working together and discovered how seamlessly our strengths aligned.
As accomplished pastry chefs with distinct backgrounds, Carolina and Sabrina bring a blend of international training and local expertise to every creation. Carolina, originally from Uruguay and raised in southern Argentina, founded Lady C Cakes in 2012 and quickly became known across Los Angeles for her custom cakes featured at events, on television, and in private celebrations. Sabrina transitioned from hospitality management at NYU and high-end event planning at iconic venues like The Plaza Hotel and The Rainbow Room to professional baking, training at Sweet Lady Jane and The Peninsula Beverly Hills after moving to Santa Monica in 2012.
We specialize in one-of-a-kind desserts that capture the spirit of each celebration—designed to be as unforgettable in taste as they are in presentation. From grand occasions to everyday moments worth savoring, we offer handcrafted treats that make every celebration feel special.
More about us:
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We’ve been fortunate to share a clear vision and purpose from the start, which made the journey feel aligned—but building a business from the ground up always comes with its challenges. The to-do list was long, sometimes overwhelming – but we tackled it together, step by step, leaning on our partnership to navigate the process and keep moving forward.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The bakery’s name reflects our personal connection — both our names end in “ina,” creating a simple, sweet connection that speaks to our partnership. Ina Bakes is a bespoke bakery based in Venice – we offer made-to-order sweets made with fresh, high quality ingredients. We also help bring people’s special vision to life – in edible form. From milestone celebrations like weddings, anniversaries, baby showers, birthdays, to everyday small celebrations, as well as brand aligned corporate desserts- we do it all.
We’ve had the privilege of designing desserts for companies like Sony, Disney, Paramount, STARZ, TikTok, and more—translating cinematic visions into edible art. Collaborating with these storytellers is one of our favorite creative projects, and we love dreaming up desserts that reflect the spirit of each production.
Our latest venture—a monthly pop-up pastry sale—has quickly become a community favorite. Held on the first Sunday of each month at their Venice studio garden, the event features seasonal pastries, signature sweets, and new creations made with ingredients sourced from local farmers markets. Our community has been asking for this, and we’ve poured love into every detail—planning the menu, sourcing fresh ingredients, and baking in small batches to ensure everything is at its best.
With the holidays approaching, we’ve been dreaming up new treats that capture the season’s beauty—infused with flavors that reflect its warmth, nostalgia, and festive spirit.
Coming soon: our hands-on workshops and classes—where frosting meets flair! Attendees will learn and practice both timeless techniques and trending styles, all in a sweet, creative setting. And of course, we host private events too—perfect for intimate groups to learn together, celebrate special moments, and make memories over buttercream and sprinkles.
At Ina Bakes, we don’t just make desserts, we craft experiences.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Starting something new always involves risk—especially when you have families who are part of the journey. Knowing our loved ones were coming along for the ride helped us stay grounded and intentional as we built Ina Bakes from the ground up.
Even our studio setup reflects that spirit. We host all our events on our outdoor patio, which comes with its own unpredictability—weather being the biggest wild card. But we’re in Los Angeles, where sunshine is on our side most days, and we’ve learned to embrace the occasional curveball with flexibility and good humor.
