Today we’d like to introduce you to Henry Espinosa.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started making music in 2013. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life but I did know that I always had an interest in music. I had played instruments like the clarinet, guitar and did a little bit of singing. When I first started to make beats, I had no idea what I was doing. I started off by doing trap and hip hop beats then I started experimenting with my sound and rebranded myself as “Novacane” and switched to making dance and electronic music. I knew I wanted to play my music for people so I learned how to Dj so that I could play my own music live. I do live streams every Thursday where I mix in my own music along with other house and dance music. I have met many great people through my journey with music and have gotten to know a lot about myself as well.
As I am still growing as an artist and as a person, I find that I surprise myself with my creativity and I am very proud of the music that I create. I am currently working on an EP that is going to be titled “Alter Ego” it is going to come out in January 2021. This EP is about me tapping into my alter ego and letting “Novacane” really come to life without any boundaries without any limitations. We all have an alter ego and this is how I’m showing everyone mine. The songs ‘No Love’ and ‘Ignant’ are out now on all streaming platforms.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Every day I learn something different when I’m making music when I’m trying to promote it, and ofc when I interact with people. In the beginning, it was very tough learning new things. Every time that I would ask for help, no one wanted to share their “secrets” no one wanted to really help at all because they were so caught up in making their own music. There were many nights of frustration, many songs that got deleted on accident, glitches, lost files, computer failures and a lot of doubt in pursuing this passion. Eventually, I started to learn everything on my own and a lot of the things I used to not understand or thought were difficult back in the day are now things I don’t really stress over.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a musician. I make dance and electronic music. I am currently most proud of the music I have been releasing lately. Two songs in particular are my favorite that I have made. One is called ‘Ignant’ and the other is called ‘No Love’ out on all streaming platforms. I believe what sets me apart from others is my determination and hard work. I’ve had people tell me before to quit music and if I would have listened to them, I wouldn’t have the experiences I’ve had lately such as being interviewed here.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I think electronic dance music has made a huge impact in the world and that it is something that is taking over the world very rapidly, festivals are everywhere around the world, they keep getting bigger and attracting more people. Personally, my goal is to play at one of these big events and go be able to share my music with people worldwide. I hope that my music can make them feel good.
