Today we’d like to introduce you to Giulia Zeta.
Hi Giulia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I’m Giulia; I’m an actor and lover of all forms of art. I’m originally from Italy, where I lived for 20 years of my life. I started my journey in Milan when I was only 9 years old. I was part of a theater group, and when we performed for the first time ever that same year in front of a live audience, the feelings I had made me realize that acting would be my path. I never stopped attending courses and workshops, until at the age of 17 I discovered an Acting Studio in Milan that introduced me to Acting for Film as well.
Not need to say how much I loved going to class and learn about films and cinema. I loved it to the point that when I graduated high school, I chose that my place from that moment on would’ve been Hollywood. I applied for colleges, and when I got accepted at the New York Film Academy, I packed up and left for the States. I got my bachelor’s in Acting for Film last year, and ever since that moment, I’ve worked on many sets, short films, features, and theater plays.
I’m constantly on the lookout for new opportunities and ways of using my craft and live my dream every way.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. I think acting, in general, is a very tough path to choose; it involves a lot of commitment, determination, and confidence in one’s skills and knowledge. Personally, I’ve struggled a lot with rejection and the way I should’ve handled it. In this industry being rejected a million times before receiving a “yes” is nothing more than routine for an actor. However, I approached the industry right after graduating 3 years of college, so I still had some of that wishful thinking living in me. And when I started auditioning and getting the first big rejections, I immediately took it personally. I started beating myself up and getting angry and resentful at all those auditions.
Only after a few months, when I realized it wasn’t just me, but everybody I knew had the same exact reality, that I understood that rejection does not equal failure; it’s just a part of reaching success.
After I learned that lesson my life as an actor has been so much less stressful and actually fun!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an actor; I’ve been acting since I was 9 nine years old, and during this time, I’ve been a part of several projects. I self-produced and starred as the lead of a short film called “Our Etiquette.” A short drama that deals with a couple going through a breakup. It’s a movie that not only challenged me emotionally but also technically. Being the producer was so interesting, and it allowed me to know all the behind-the-scenes and the process of bringing to reality what lived in my head for months.
Another project I’m incredibly proud of is a Pilot I recently starred in as a Lead. The series is called “The Healer” and it deals with a group of doctors and patients and their journey of growth inside the clinic that connects all of them together. My character, Dr Maldini, was an Italian doctor, which was an incredible honor for me to be able to bring my culture and language into such a wonderful project. Morning Crane production and Victor Migalchan believed in my skills so much that if felt so refreshing and fun to be on set and dress the clothes and personality of Dr. Maldini.
I also starred in many other projects that I feel very close to and brought me a lot of fulfillment, such as “Hello? Yes!” directed by Matilde Cellie (a story about a broken and deeply scarred sex worker) and “Lemonseed” directed by Zaina Tripp; a fantasy about life and death and the beauty of being humans.
There’s more projects coming up in the future that I’m so excited for and can’t wait to be able to share!
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think an essential quality for me has always been determination. I’ve always known I wanted to be actor and to come to LA to pursue that dream. However, I wouldn’t have been able to do so if I didn’t have the focus and determination I had. So many people, from the very beginning, laughed and called me insane when I said I wanted to work in Hollywood. They would try to talk me out of it by making very great points about “secure jobs” and “stability”; they would say “Hollywood is too far from Italy, how are you going to survive on your own?” And if I didn’t believe so much in my goal, I would’ve been easy influenced by all those people. I knew the downsides of being an actor and the struggles, but the love and dedication for this form of art and determination for pursuing something that made me so happy was stronger than any other thought.
Still now, when I have down moments or days in which I think nothing is going my way, there’s always a voice inside of me that reminds me how far I’ve gone and how much I want this to be my life.
Being determined and confident in my craft is what allowed me to achieve every goal I’ve set for myself.
