Today we’d like to introduce you to Gina Minuche.
Gina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was working for an Interior Designer for a few years and had a background in events within corporate America. When the pandemic hit, my husband and I were left partially laid off like so many other people. We are both natural busybodies and couldn’t stand just sitting around, so we offered to plan my cousin’s wedding. With all the extra time on our hands, we were able to pull off my cousin’s destination elopement in as little as a month! We decided to keep going and offer other services like pop-up picnics and event services like rentals and planning when we saw how much interest there was for it, and here we are now! Stories and Tablescapes has been busy with styling photoshoots, renting out items for events, and planning/coordinating weddings ever since.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No business is easy, especially during a pandemic with low funds, but that’s why we decided to make this business budget-friendly for our clients. Both my husband and I come from similar backgrounds where money wasn’t always available and often times it took thinking outside the box to come up with resourceful solutions, and this business is no different! Our minds go a mile a minute to plan these pop-up events while remembering these events need to be affordable for the client and us! That sometimes means figuring out how to transport items without spending so much money on rental trucks or finding one of a kind decor/designs that won’t break the bank. You can just call us the DIY team!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Stories and Tablescapes – what should we know?
When we created Stories and Tablescapes, we had the vision to start an event company with affordable rates, so everyone can have beautiful special occasions, whether it be a wedding or a dinner party. We believe events should be more than an aesthetic experience. We want everyone’s memory from your special occasion to be everlasting. We specialize in smaller intimate gatherings that go beyond a “for the gram” photo op. In a world where our attention span is dwindling and social media is taking over everyone’s head, we want to help create a time and place to be present and reconnect face to face. Services include: Planning, Rentals, Styling, Coordinating, Florals, Officiant, and live music! One of our most popular services are our pop-up adventure picnics, whether it be at a beach, park, or even Joshua Tree!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Perseverance without a doubt! Sometimes it feels like everyday brings a new challenge, but we know how to stay focused on the positive and remember the end goal. We remind ourselves that every problem has a solution!
