Meet Gerard Lopez of west LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gerard Lopez.

Hi Gerard, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m Gerard Lopez, a proud Mexican entrepreneur with roots in both the U.S. and Mexico. I’m the youngest of three brothers and grew up being inspired by my parents success. My dad immigrated to the U.S. in the early ’90s and eventually created a successful business of his own, while my mom has always had an entrepreneurial spirit. Their efforts gave me a privileged childhood.

That legacy stuck with me. I went to college for business management, but I’ve always been someone who enjoys being in charge and creating my own path. I eventually dropped out to open a flower shop, inspired by my best friend’s work in event florals. That’s where I got my first real taste of the events world — I loved the energy, but I knew I wanted to do something more unique.

After a few different ventures, I found my calling in event catering — not your typical buffet style, but something fresh and eye-catching: snack bar carts and charcuterie experiences tailored to L.A.’s vibrant social scene. I wore all the hats starting out — branding, marketing, design, logistics — all inspired by the culture and rhythm of Los Angeles.

The biggest challenge? Trusting myself enough to keep going when things felt uncertain. But I’m proud that I stayed true to my vision. POP UP LA was built from instinct, experience, and a deep love for creating moments people remember.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
i’m also one of those people that believes that when something is meant to be everything flows, and that’s what has happened since i’ve been working on bringing my own take on charcuterie to LA’s events

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have a unique vision on how my charcuterie services can become synonyms with elevated social gatherings, that would benefit and fit smoothly with the city’s lifestyle

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
being happy with what your doing
