Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There has been a lot of up and down along the way, and more to come I’m sure. Some of the struggles include trademark infringement, trying to figure out the ins and outs of business via trial and error, not knowing how to find my purpose creatively, wondering if I was on the correct path or not, etc.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Fists Up Afros Out – what should we know?
Fists Up Afros Out is a brand that promotes unity through clothing, activities, programs, community service, and creative arts. I specialize in all things creative, and what sets me apart is the fact that my aim is to merge my master’s education in social work, social justice, and philanthropy with my interests in fashion, art, music, and comedy in order to change the world in a positive way.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I would say my west African heritage and my parents play a huge role in my success. I learned hustle and reliance from seeing my parents move to the states with nothing and make something of themselves. That’s what drives me.
