Meet Erick Plata

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erick Plata.

Erick, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story begins as a Hispanic child trying to grow up in the East Coast. Trying to find my passions and dreams while not letting society’s norms try to tear me down. As a child had to struggle with racism, poverty and discrimination. Moving from state to state as a child, I went to 20 schools because it was hard for my family to find a stable place or a stable income.

Moving around so much has definitely helped me grow as a person, be more personable make friends faster not let the small things affect me drastically in always keep a positive attitude reminder the income outcome. As I grew up, I learn to love all types of art like photography, dance and makeup. The struggles are persistent but it’s definitely worth the lifelong dream. I’ve hurdled many obstacles throughout my life as far as teaching others to learn how to love me for being gay and chasing my dreams in the entertainment business.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Many other struggles that I dealt with our poverty within my family instability. My immigration status to becoming a US citizen and my sexual orientation.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a freelance public figure I specialize in makeup dance and photography. I am well known for turning out makeup looks with bright colours. What sets me apart from others is my versatility to quickly adapt in combine all my artistic skills together to create great content.

How do you think about happiness?
Expressing my passion for the arts to others who I can inspire to chase their dreams even if it means you have a degree or not because a piece of paper does not determine your future.
