Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Yang.
Hi Elizabeth, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey started with a passion for solving problems and optimizing systems—both in technology and in people’s lives. I graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the age of 19, then worked as an engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab and Raytheon. But over time, I realized I wanted to help people more directly, which led me to law school and ultimately founding Yang Law Offices, where we specialize in family law, business law, estate planning, and intellectual property.
Through that work, I saw firsthand how many professionals—lawyers, business owners, entrepreneurs—struggled to scale because they were buried in day-to-day operations. That’s when I launched Optinizers: to help people offload, delegate, and optimize their workflows by leveraging highly skilled virtual assistants in the Philippines.
Today, Optinizers empowers clients across industries to grow their businesses efficiently while maintaining focus on their core genius. It’s been incredibly fulfilling to merge my background in law, tech, and operations to create a solution that helps others work smarter, not harder.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road—entrepreneurship rarely is. One of the biggest early challenges was building trust in a remote team model, especially for clients who had never worked with virtual assistants before. There was a lot of education involved—helping people see that you can delegate high-level tasks to someone halfway across the world and still maintain quality and reliability.
Another challenge was on the operations side—figuring out the right systems to match the right VA with the right client, and ensuring both sides are set up for success. It took trial and error, refining our onboarding processes, training programs, and communication structures.
And of course, like any growing business, we’ve had to navigate scaling pains—expanding our team while maintaining culture and quality, managing time zone differences, and continuing to evolve as technology and client needs change.
But every obstacle sharpened our vision. We now have a well-oiled system, a highly capable team in the Philippines, and clients who’ve seen their businesses transform because of the support we provide. The road wasn’t always smooth, but it’s been worth every bump.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Optinizers is a virtual staffing agency that helps entrepreneurs, small businesses, and busy professionals reclaim their time and scale their operations by connecting them with highly skilled virtual assistants in the Philippines. We specialize in high-quality, long-term placements—not just quick task outsourcing. Our VAs become true team members, supporting everything from administrative work and customer service to marketing, social media, project management, and legal support.
What sets us apart is our personalized matching process. We don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach—we get to know each client’s needs, workflow, and personality, then carefully match them with vetted VAs who align with their goals. We also provide ongoing support and systems to ensure both sides are successful. This is what makes our retention rates so high and our client satisfaction so strong.
We’re especially proud of the relationships we build—both with clients and with our VAs. We treat our virtual assistants with respect, fair pay, and a supportive community. That positive energy translates directly into the service they deliver. We’re not just staffing—we’re building global partnerships that help businesses grow smarter.
If there’s one thing we’d want readers to know, it’s this: you don’t have to do everything alone. With the right support, you can focus on what you love and do best—while we handle the rest.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something that surprises a lot of people is that I started my career as an engineer—working at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab and Raytheon—before ever stepping into law or business. That technical background trained me to think systematically and solve complex problems, which has shaped how I build teams, structure businesses, and approach client solutions at Optinizers.
What also surprises people is how many times I’ve successfully transitioned across industries—from engineering to law, to entrepreneurship, and now into public service as a City Councilwoman and Mayor Pro Tem of Monterey Park. Each chapter has taught me something new about leadership, service, and resilience. I’m living proof that you don’t have to stay in one lane your whole life—you can reinvent yourself and make an impact in many different ways.
