Meet Lena “Levi” Levchuk

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elena Levchuk.

Elena, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve started as a videographer in Moscow, Russia. After a couple of years working, I went to London, UK to study Filmmaking at Met Film School at Ealing Broadway studios. I always wanted to work closer to a camera department, I have never felt comfortable being as a director and I decided to apply for another degree but at this time in America. I chose an academy and have had graduated in two years with a Master’s degree in Cinematography. At this moment trying to reach my goals, working as a freelancer.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I might say it is not being a hard way for me, I use to any challenges in my life. Also, I love what I am doing and I appreciate every day on a film set. Sometimes it is hard, but if you want to be successful, you should put it apart, work harder and don’t give up.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I don’t have any company yet, I’m trying to get as much experience working on set from different people as I could. However, I am thinking to open a production company in a near future. I want it to be an international one.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
The role of luck, I think because I am a woman, and nowadays the film industry is changing slightly. I am happy that people want me to be a part of their crew.
