Meet Devin Evans

Today we’d like to introduce you to Devin Evans.

Hi Devin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
First and foremost, it all started when I was about 11 years of age. I dreamed about Hollywood and being on television for the longest. I started my career in front the camera landing background work. After tons of background gigs. Finally, landed a role as spiritual singer in 12 Years A Slave back in 2013. After years of acting, I decided to take the entertainment business a little more serious. So what I would do is pop open a Redbull and would spend endless night on YouTube. After restless nights and bloodshot eyes, I decided to start my own production company “FilmingIsKlutch” Prod. I developed aesthetic camera flow which my clients love today. I worked with some of dopest talent in the industry such as former 1017 artist Z Money, Ying Yang Twins, The BoyBoy Westcoast, Lano Bandz, Nikki T, and some red carpet events in Hollywood but it doesn’t stop there. In 2020 Spotify created my own radio station called Cameraman vs Rappers which feature songs such as Life Amazing, HookUp, Big Ash, Spaghetti & etc. under Music Is Klutch on all platforms.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Have it been a smooth road?? Absolutely not. I thank God for my struggles. After years of Trial and error, I understand the meaning of “There’s Beauty in the Struggle”. There are numerous accounts where I wanted to give up. I didn’t have any support, I wasn’t landing any jobs. The first two years was stressful. I had family and friends who didn’t believe in my dreams. It seemed like everyone wanted to be an athletic players but I had an ultimate backup plan. Which made me who I am today. When I moved to Cali, I was maybe 2hours away from Hollywood/LA in a city called Ontario. I remember commuting from Ontario to LA by metro link almost everyday for film school. Yes, I was that dedicated. After leaving Ontario and almost becoming homeless. I learned to always put God first.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m known for my music videos aesthetics. I provide cinematic visuals to clients. I’m most proud of seeing clients with the biggest face of joy after seeing their vision come to life. I’m also a recording artist. I have tasteful energetic music on all platforms. Which Spotify has created my own radio station, “Cameraman vs Rappers” Music is Klutch.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I believe in the next 5-10 years. I will be our generation Spike Lee, Benny Boom & Dave Myers all in one. I’m working with some big names as of now but unfortunately, I can’t release their names but there’s something beautiful in stores.
