Today we’d like to introduce you to Devin Bennett.
Hi Devin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my baking business because I wanted to come up with a secure way where I can always provide for my family financially and not have to depend on anybody else to feed my family. I originally started selling sweets a long time my cousin, my cousins pop up in a friends backyard and Altadena and I eventually moved to street feeding in Altadena. I had my own stand located at a smoke shop on 20 50 one Northlake Avenue and I will pop up there 4 to 5 days a week until the fires happened.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road since the fires occurred in Altadena at the beginning of 2025 the fire spin ruined my business since I could ruin everybody else’s business and livelihood and Altadena. Due to the fires, my customer base got completely dispersed. It also became very hard for customers to find me because I no longer was suggesting one location and trying to find multiple places where I could pop up or would be allowed to pop up and sell my sweets. Since the fires I would say I pretty much had to start my business over . like from square one. as in trying to find locations to where I can pop up and it be a consistent location to where people can find me easily. To having to rebuild my customer base since the fire since everyone is pretty much dispersed right now.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I run a dessert business based in Altadena where I produce small-batch baked goods using high-quality ingredient’s. I specialized in brown buttered cinnamon rolls and premium cookies made fresh daily. My cinnamon rolls in my cookies are also almost known for in specializing in. I’m just proud that I’m actually able to run my own business by myself and despite the fires and and the adversities, I faced from the fire.

Right now I’m currently poppin up At Fair Oaks Burger in Altadena, Thursday-Saturday.
