Today, we’d like to introduce you to Desert of Talking Shadows. Desert of was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Franco Zizza.
Hi Desert of Talking Shadows, we’re so thrilled to have you sharing your story with us today. Maybe we can kick things off by having you introduce yourself to our readers? We’d love to have you go into your story and how you got to where you are today.
Started out playing a sold out Viper Room show in Los Angeles opening for Jared James Nichols back in 2018. From there we’ve gone on to play numerous exciting venues and shows, and released 1 full length record and an EP. We are currently finishing up our 2nd full length record within the year, and hope to find the correct management and or labels/distribution to then push our career to the next level. This record will be the next step for us on all levels, especially sonically, as we worked on it with Steve Albini at his studio Electrical Audio in Chicago, and, then also Michael Beinhorn remotely produced a couple tracks which we ended up recording at Robert Lang Studios in Seattle. The music is a lot different then our past stuff, all while retaining our values of giving people a proper story and energy through our sounds.
Please talk to us about your music.
We’re one of those bands that you can’t just see only one time. Every show is different, all the way from the set list of songs we play, down to the performance itself, we tailor each show to that specific audience. One night we’ll be jumping through a drum kit, the next, we’ll invite the entire crowd onstage to sing a song with us. Depends on the night and how we feel, spontaneous, as rock n roll should be. With all that said, that’s really how our career has been so far. Moving in the moment through lineup changes as well as different business deals and figuring out how to give our audience the best version of us ALWAYS, and not compromising on the music and the performances themselves.
Franco Zizza has been a great friend to us and I know you’ve got a great relationship as well. Maybe you can tell our audience a bit about Franco and your experience with them.
I love Franco cause he’s one of the nicest human beings on the planet, as well as one of the greatest guitar players around. Our bands have played together a few times in the past and they’ve been excellent shows as they always bring a high energy set. All the guys in Handsome Karnivore are great friends and players and it’s always good to hang out with them and see them!
