Meet Dean Martinez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dean Martinez.

Dean, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have been rapping since I was like 7 or 8. I heard a nas Cd in my brother’s ford explorer and ever since, I had this aspiring want to be able to say how I feel in a phonetic way. The ability to have that control of words and metaphors was really dope to me. So I just kept studying music and rap in general throughout my childhood. Rap battles were constant in garden grove and Anaheim so I just had fun with it and it always stayed with me. In 2018 I decided I wanted to go all in. And really do this. I couldn’t help but create music and push my self to find my sound and just get better. I kind of always had this realistic view of “I’m not there yet” I could tell that even though every track going into this point i always pushed to be better than where I was at. But nothing compares to how it comes out when you find yourself and when you just know.

I feel like now as an artist I’ve grew in so many ways and worked with so many talented engineers and producers like “iRez” Ivan Alvarez and producer “ill Faded” I just had this positive team and vocal coach type of help this year that steered me in the right direction. I am an MHG Artist (Money Hogg Gang) I met Compton Menace through TayF3rd in 2018 and ever since then I just been developing my sound and style while learning a lot throughout the past two years. I recently joined up with Ron Mexico and his Digital Performance Mgmt Group, and I have a couple of new releases coming out, one with Caskey called “Overnight” which is about how certain aspects of this industry require you to be a certain way and you just have to show them Your own wave and do exactly what you do. I’ve recently Released a track with caskey titled “TRVP” and since June of this year, it is almost at 100k in streams on Spotify. So I’m excited about the future I have a lot of new content with my sound and several Singles currently doing some great numbers like “Different” “My Route” and “Promise” so go def check those out as well!

Has it been a smooth road?
The Road is Never easy and its never a clear cut path. You just know when you genuinely manifest and commit. You will succeed there wasn’t a doubt in my mind i knew what i loved to do but i just needed that spark of intent to do this forever. You wont always get your answers, you wont really know the steps to take until you do your research you wont become how you see yourself if you dont commit to everything it is you do and who you are. Only you can make the journey fun and worth it. Not just being around it.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I’m a recording artist. My style is Rap, pop with a punk vibe. I have been Creating music and writing in general since i was eight years old. I studied artists as Great as R.A.K.I.M, Tupac Nas, Eminem 50 Cent and more. Growing up i knew it was one of those things where first people would get my ethnicity wrong and associate me with wanting to be a “white Rapper” like Eminem. And that it would not workout. but that didn’t stop me from studying every artist that caught my attention in a huge way.  I do have a lot of similarities with a lot Of peoples favorite artists. My life my background my person. I am also Mexican and italian. So my music is influenced by how i personally grew up. I have an aggressive style at times and i like to phoneticaly connect my sentences in different ways with different sounds not always the systematic A,B,A,B type rhythm most popular songs use and kind of bend on that more.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In this industry it’s honestly ever changing. There are so many talented artists out there constantly pushing there craft and sound it could be in a whole different type of popular sound by the end of this decade.
