Meet Darren Brown of KiDD Saturday

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darren Brown.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It started with a conduit. Tommy Reid (Producer of Kill the Irishman) came to East Carolina Univ to present his movie to the class. I wasn’t even in the class, but a friend of mine asked me to come check it out. Tommy mentioned the word “conduit,” implying, all you need is one person willing to help you.

Afterwards, I spoke to Tommy, pushing for him to be my conduit, and it worked. I eventually got an internship in Cali, which moved me out here. Entertainment is my anchor to the world, and moving to Cali, I felt, would be the best platform for my passion.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I don’t believe there is such thing as a smooth road. And if there is, there’s probably nothing good at the end. I believe one of my biggest obstacles, since being out here was discernment. Everyone is a “suit”(Entourage) out here. They all talk a nice game and usually have some product to back their words up, but who they are, genuinely, doesn’t match. I’ve been a part of the awkward shows and witnessed people words not aligning with their actions, but I don’t blame them. We’re only human.

KiDD Saturday – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I represent “The Curious Cat Project,” which is a small production crew comprised of innovative creators that love to bring visuals to life. I also represent KiDD Saturday, the artist. What sets this team apart from others is that we are not driven by money. We didn’t start with money, we started with a goal and a commitment to each other, to bring excellent content to any in need.

I pride myself in the powerhouse of creators I’ve surrounded myself with. KiDD Saturday is a representation of the other half of myself. I’m a Gemini, so I try to show love to the dichotomy. KS(KiDD Saturday) is a mantle for change with a little extra funk. Music is the language of the soul, and sometimes, what I can’t portray through visuals, I do with words.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success and Progression are synonymous. We all want to reach the top, but most won’t envision the climb. I base my progression off of my momentum. If you want to make an album by the end of the year, stop talking about how great the completed project would be… start actually recording. It’s fine to think of the endgame but strategize the journey as well.
