Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Whacko.
Hi Danny, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m an artist from Lexington, Kentucky. As a teenager I moved to Augusta, Georgia for a bit and thats were I found my love for music. Been making music since 2016 when I was in high school. Me and the homies would freestyle for laughs and giggles. We swore that we were the next OFWGKTA as they were our inspiration. What started out as something not so serious to me became a die hard passion. Never in a million years did I think I would be making music let alone be an artist when I grew up. It kinda just happened. I’m super thankful that it did.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s never a completely smooth road. There’s always bumps and grooves amongst the path. And you’re DEFINITELY gonna hit a few potholes. The biggest pothole that I’ve hit is the lack of self motivation or being super hard on myself, especially when things don’t go as I planned it. What happens when you hit a pothole? unless it popped your tire, you don’t just pull over and give up on going to where ever your destination is, you keep going, looking to dodge the next one. Even if it did pop your tire, your halt is temporary. You’ll get that tire fixed and continue along your journey. I learned to keep going when things get hard even when it feels like I don’t have the will to do so. Deep down, I know that I have somewhere to be and I’ll be damed if I don’t get to my destination, where ever that might be.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an artist. I make music. I create songs that have been felt by thousands across the globe. Over a thousand souls……Thats crazy to say. My songs are very personal. Very raw, what separates me from the rest is how deep im willing to go within myself and talk about my traumas and being honest. Each release is like a diary entry. Sometimes I forget that people can relate to my vulnerability. I receive a ton of messages from supporters that tell me how my music has impacted them. From in depth stories and experiences to simple praises, These songs that I make has affected many. I’m most proud of the fact that my songs have been felt by those who are going through similar struggles. It binds us on a spiritual level.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
MY SANITY!!!!! Mental health is huge to me and I’ve had my toes on the edge trying to convince myself to take one extra step into the abyss. My mind was think with fog. I know what it’s like to have bleary vision and able to see what’s around you. Today I do everything in my power to protect my peace, my mind, and my SANITY.
