Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Gomez.
Danielle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always known I wanted a career in the music industry, and singing has always been my passion. My mom says I used to sing as a baby, without saying a real word. As I got older, I still continued to sing. There’s was a lot of Mariah C., Aaliyah, Whitney H., etc played around me as I was growing up. Its been known by my family and friends that I love to sing. I’m singing constantly that everyone started to notice I have a voice. By the time I was in school, everyone knew I liked to sing, I got asked to sing for my elementary school graduation. That was when I got a feeling of what it’s like to perform for an audience and it felt great, I was very nervous but didn’t even let it get to me. As the years went by I just continued to teach myself and practice with my writing and vocals. Things like singing and writing has always come natural to me, but I always like to take extra time into perfecting things that I struggle with. to this day I’m always practicing and working on improvement. Finally, I’ve been given the chance to work on my own music.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth ride, but it hasn’t been the bumpiest. I’ve struggled a lot with music. Pretty contrasting, because it also comes so easy to me. One of the major struggle is believing in myself because no one is going to believe in you. Finding a sound, growing up there’s a lot of inspirations I looked up to. Being original is so important, and I feel most at ease when creating music. Money has also been a huge factor, I don’t come from much so I never got any proper vocal/music lessons. Besides those things, I don’t try to let these things get in the way I try to focus on being true to what I want.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m most known for singing. Its the only true passion I’ve really pushed. Everyone who knows me knows thats been my number one thing I love and trying to pursue.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I would say there’s a few, for example: strategic, brave, and authentic. I feel that these are the key things that I think are important for my success, because being strategic can go anyway you need it to whether it’s business/creativity. Being brave can go anyway whether dealing with pushing/overcoming fears; or shyness around new people I meet along the way in this industry also, even pushing myself when I tend to feel uninspired. Authenticity is so important because to means staying true to my sound, and knowing my needs as an artist.
