Meet Dania Abraham of Mustard Seed Housing & Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dania Abraham.

Hi Dania, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born in Mexico and moved to Los Angeles, CA at age seven. Since a young age, I have known that I had a gift to care for others. During my life’s journey, I have overcome many obstacles that have taught me how to help others and with much training and education from receiving a B.A. in Psychology and a Master’s Degree is Social Work, I am now bringing housing program models that will enhance the experience of people. With my knowledge of working in many social services programs during my career and listening to other people’s stories, it has inspired me to take a community leadership role to open a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Being the Founder and CEO for Mustard Seed Housing & Services Inc., I find pleasure in building the nonprofit at each stage. Since day one it has been a joy to build my passion and dream to help other people. Living in L.A. for so many years, my passion continues to grow. Currently, I am working on a housing development project in Los Angeles and I’m excited about working with partners that have a similar dream to build affordable housing and provide adequate services for our community.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Some of the obstacles have come with knowing how complex city policies work, finding investors that have the same passion, and working in the midst of all the key players simultaneously as they all collide to achieve the same goal.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Mustard Seed Housing & Services Inc. focuses on partnering with investors to build affordable housing to provide housing and services to homeless and low-income eligible people. Also, supporting in linking people to other nonprofit housing programs that meet the eligibility. Mustard Seed Housing & Services Inc. has a strategic plan to provide housing and services via a model in which community is involved at all levels. Mustard Seed Housing & Services Inc. has innovative plans as the housing program is being developed. In addition, the vision statement is for residents, the community, and partners to mutually collaborate together to close gaps and create bridges for a strong community. The goal is for strong leadership, organization, community, financial, development and services. Core values are: Transparency, Partnership, Community, Collaboration, Integrity, Compassion, Innovation, Respect, and Grace.

How do you think about happiness?
I enjoy people and their stories and finding solutions. When people come together, and when there is synergy, there are great things that can be accomplished.
