Today we’d like to introduce you to Continental T. Him and his team share his story with us below.
Please kick things off for us. Where does this story begin?
Houston native Continental T started writing and producing music at the age of 13. By the time he turned 15, he flew out to Atlanta, Georgia with (affiliate) Lil John’s record label BME and began working with producer Pit (Party Like A Rockstar). Later in his career after turning down his first independent deal, he began to work with Wes Crocket (Wes World) who introduced him to Sylvia Rhone (VP Universal Music Group), Big Tank (Music & Television Producer), and Myke Diesel (Music Producer). His hard work led him to meet people like Scarface (Former VP Def Jam South, Mike Caren (Warner Music Group) and Mario Henchmen of GoldTone who managed his early projects.
Since then, Continental T has been featured on more than 20 mixtapes with The Game’s Djs Dj Haze and other Black Wallstreet Djs, most notably under the alias Truth. Truth and Dj Capcom’s collaborative mixtapes have been featured on many popular internet blogs such as 2 Dope Boyz, Nah Right, Hip Hop Game, and Dat Piff. Truth has captured more than 9 million listeners on Youtube with the unexpected leak of the track titled “I’m Goin In” with artist Drake and Lil’ Wayne in 2009.
Continental T was first signed to a French label in Paris (Atmospheriques/Sony). After forming a group (We Are Me) with Parisian Musician “Alawn”, via skype they created production together while Continental wrote songs to their material. In 2014, Atmospheriques released their first group album “Life In Transit”, with their biggest single to date “Cette Nuit” which is available for download on all platforms. This single’s video reached more than a million streams worldwide just on Youtube alone and was featured on the tracklist of three number one sellers on iTunes France.
Hailing back from Europe, Continental T is currently writing and producing his own solo projects, which will be released in 2021. He’s also working on multiple projects and collaborations with other artists and new We Are Me Material.
With BMG now “We Are Me’s” new label home, the group’s entire catalog is now worldwide and it’s only a matter of time before Continental T secures a new label home of his own for his new solo project.
Promotions for Continental T’s new work will be featured on exclusive social media platforms. You don’t want to miss out, so make sure you tune in!!
Has it been a smooth road?
With being in this industry, it’s never truly easy, but what good thing is? I’ve taken time out of my life to dedicate to a craft that has in return created a life for my family and I. So regardless of its ups and downs, I’m just happy to be paid for my work. Whether I was signed or not, to express myself for others to resonate their own happiness or pain with is a blessing. Growing up, I can vividly remember back on the times when a best friend of mine was enthused about what I was creating. This was before anyone in the world ever heard my voice or the production I created. That is a moment I’ll never let leave; Watching my friend “280” tell everyone, “I was the best and no one could f with me”. We were just 8th graders, lol.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes!!! I feel that a lot of people can flourish out here in LA. I also believe that with the way of the world right now, we can make it from the chair at our homes. It’s too simplistic to create a marketing plan for whatever product it is you have to sell, whether it be music or cosmetic work. Nothing should be able to stop the hustle, not even location. Not even this Pandemic!
