Today we’d like to introduce you to Cielo Borisonik

Hi Cielo, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
DAMAS LA truly began as an extension of my own personal passions and experiences. In my adulthood I have been deeply invested in wellness, community building, and organization, especially when you throw women who support each other in the mix of it all. After time of working in different industries like sales, marketing, and even construction management, I realized none of those things were filling me up and what truly fulfilled me was bringing women together for shared experiences. I really wanted to build a community that left any competitive edge that us women feel completely out and have a community where women could connect, heal, and grow together.
I really started on a small scale two years ago hosting monthly hikes all over the Los Angeles area, exclusively for women. Last year I decided to start dedicating time to curating and hosting pop up workshops and events, my first ever event was an outdoor yoga class that included an oracle reading and gathering afterwards, and a month after I had a major sound bath event, it was a beautiful and intimate experience and I really saw firsthand how these gatherings could uplift, inspire, and create long lasting meaningful connections.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road; it’s come with its fair share of challenges however I will throw in a cliche and say it is all worth it! I think any new business owner can vouch for me when I say there are great days but there are also days that make you question yourself and your mission, for me it was difficult really balancing my passion and sustaining my venture, at first I was hosting events purely out of passion but in order for it to keep growing I had to realize and dedicate my time to making sure this venture is also growing into a financially viable source while also maintaining the heart of the community and being reasonable with my event prices. It’s still hard sometimes because I am still working on shifting my mindset from simply hosting and running events fueled on passion to running a business with a purpose.
Also like anything, growing a community that backs and believes in your mission is very similar to an experiment, I wanted to build an engaged and loyal community that also felt the need for women’s wellness, but a lot of it comes with experimenting with different types of events, and strategizing on how to find the women who truly align with DAMAS. I will say lastly that juggling multiple roles can be tough when you’re not only the founder but you’re also the event planner, marketer, social media manager, community builder, and financial strategist LOL! I take it day by day, because it truly is my passion, and I believe in myself, my community, and all the women that need a safe space like DAMAS. It isn’t easy, but every step is worth it.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
DAMAS LA wouldn’t be what it is today without the incredible support system that has been there from the beginning. My friends and loved ones have played a huge role in pushing me to take the leap and start the event company, they believed in my vision before I fully did. They not only encourage me every step of the way, but they also volunteer their time, energy, and skills to help bring these events to life. With their full support, they’ve been an essential part of DAMAS LA’s growth, and I am so grateful.
A special credit goes to my mom, who has been a big inspiration to me. All her life she fought to be an entrepreneur, she always empowered women in her own way, proving that success is possible through hard work and passion. Growing up and watching her build her own path deeply influenced the way I approach DAMAS LA, not just as a business, but as a movement designed to support women. This brand is a reflection of the love, encouragement, and collective effort of those around me. I’m beyond grateful for the community that has formed behind the scenes, and their support continues to be a driving force in making DAMAS LA a powerful and transformative space for women.
