Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Hinds.
Hi Christina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a wellness entrepreneur who has a thirst for adventure, travel, and anything that deepens the human experience. My passion lies in connecting minds and bodies so that we can discover our true happiness and purpose.
I spent most of my life playing competitive volleyball and began my professional career in beach volleyball after college. As my father is Greek, I joined the National Team of Greece and found myself on the World Tour competing for the Olympics. In a foreign country with mounting pressures to win, I was consumed with the question “what does it take to achieve peak performance?” My purpose became to discover how to unlock it.
Years after I retired, I was meeting with a neuroscientist about “flow state” and he introduced me to my soon-to-be brilliant co-founder and creator of Drumboxing, John Wakefield, and we never looked back! Drumboxing is a revolutionary workout that trains the BRAIN equally to the BODY. We use rhythm and patterns to strengthen your brain and body at the same time. It is one of the most powerful “flow state” experiences I have seen outside of sport and I am fully committed to unlocking its potential over the years to come.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a business during a pandemic was never going to be easy. Although we started a few months before shutdown, once it hit we had to seriously dig deep and decide if this path was worth pursuing. The longer the pandemic went on, and the more systems and people started to break down, the more we realized our work with Drumboxing was important for rebuilding lives and our timing was perfect. We were challenged with adapting to an ever changing ecosystem. All the adversity in our faces made us more focused, more determined, and more sure of Drumboxing being a practice for a better future.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Drumboxing?
Drumboxing is one of those things that you really just have to try for yourself! Whether your goal is to burn calories and blow off steam at the same time, or to improve your focus and performance, or rewire your thoughts and patterns, or if you just want to have a good time, there are life lessons built into Drumboxing that can apply to almost anyone. And for those who cannot make it to an in-person experience at our Malibu studio, we are coming out with our first digital introductory course at the end of Feb! Stay tuned!
