Meet Charlie Castaneda

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charlie Castaneda.

Charlie Castaneda

Charlie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started back in 2018. I was working at a collection agency. People laugh all the time, and people say I would make a good actor. I had no idea how to start, so I applied at Santa Ana College for an Acting for Camera class. My teacher, Amberly Chamberlain, asked if I have interacted in my life. She saw something in and confirmed something I thought I had. I would forever thank her for that.

Decided to take a leap of faith and move to Los Angeles to fully pursue my acting career. It wasn’t that far from Orange County, but I knew I had to make the move if I really wanted to immerse myself in this world. I knew it was a long shot, but I didn’t care. I was ready to give it my all.

Ask of now, I’ve been in four films, three theater plays, and a few commercials. At least my new management with Skyfire Artists and just recently auditioned for major roles. They’re still more work to be done.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Along the road, I’ve faced homelessness and tough financial times and have been part of an orchestrated social justice movements during the COVID year.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Aside from acting, during the height of COVID, I became involved in participating in and organizing social justice protests. I was able to make a difference in many parts of the LA Metro County area. Specifically, injustices against immigrants and street vendors. I can say I’m proud of our work we did at the time. As far as acting, I can say I’ve played roles apart from the usual stereotypes given to young Latino males. Comedy and Drama being my strong suits.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Get into acting class ASAP! This industry isn’t for the faint of heart. If you just want to be famous, stop now. This requires extreme hard work and dedication. If you are not willing to put in the work, then this will not be for you.
