Today we’d like to introduce you to Cecille Cruz.
Cecille, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
For 16 years, I worked as Worker’s Compensation Claims Assistant. In March 2009, I was laid off from work then the following month (April 2009), I decided to go home in the Philippines, I found the herbal soap samples by accident in our coconut land in Barangay Balat Atis, San Antonio, Quezon Province. I used the soap samples, I like the effect on my face and body. I brought some soap samples here in the USA, after 2 months I called Henry Raca, the youngest son of our care taker in our coconut land, advised him I like to buy the herbal soap and at the same time I inquired from him if he already market the soap in the USA. Henry Raca and I took the risk to market and sell the herbal soap in the USA. Our next plan of action was to find the right distributor for our herbal soap products. I met someone by accident that works for a Filipino Distribution company in January 2009, I called him and he introduced me to PerMonte USA Corporation, owned by Jong Perez and Gilbert Montenegro. They were able to sell the Magical Herbal Soap Products to our very first account, the Seafood City Supermarket in September 2009. Our first idea for our marketing strategy was to give out soap samples to the customers of Seafood City Supermarket. By that time, we don’t have yet website, flyers nor newspaper/tv advertisement. Whenever there is an opportunity, I started to attend different events and we always give out the soap samples. By April 2010, PerMonte USA Corp. knew there is a potential to grow my business, they referred me to the different Filipino distributors from No. California (Camtrade Enterprises), Mid West States Territories (Phil. Food Corp.), East Coast States (CEE Enterprises), Georgia (Sinfar Imports) Washington (Bels Food) and my newest distributor from Hawaii (Transpac Group). Presently, our herbal soap products is available at Filipino and Asian Markets in the United States of America.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I encountered a lot of challenges from being an employee on my way becoming an accidental entrepreneur. The challenging part was everything was new to me when it comes to all aspects of handling a business, getting to know the products that I’m selling, establishing my new business relationship with the distributors and manufacturers in the Philippines and vendors. Yes, I’ve learned that every aspect of the business ventures takes a lot of thousand baby steps on learning, understanding and comprehension. Be prepared for the roller coaster ride on high and lows on having your own business.
I’m very fortunate that I have advisers/distributors who were very patient with me on teaching me how to deal with different situations when it comes on selling and distributing the herbal soap products.

What were you like growing up?
When I was growing up, would you believe I was just an average student and personality wise, I was very shy.
I was dreaming to have my own business when I was young but never thought it will turn into reality through accidental circumstances. It was indeed a MAGICAL journey.
