Meet Candace Rock

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candace Rock.

Candace, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After leaving my career in the Fashion Industry to stay home with my babies…..I dusted off my old camera and started taking photos of my kids and any other subjects I could find. What started as a part-time, fun little hobby quickly turned into a full-time career and passion. I love that I am able to combine my love of fashion, art, people and travel all while helping to create priceless memories for my clients.

Has it been a smooth road?
On the same day I officially launched my business almost ten years ago, my Dad unexpectedly passed away. Talk about going from an extreme high to an extreme low. But I took that sadness and pain and turned into love and joy and channeled it into my clients. Many of those early clients are still with me today and it’s such an honor to watch their families grow. Family photos will always be so important to me because when you lose someone close to you, those photos become everything. And no matter how many photos you have of your loved one….it’s never enough.

Alright – so let’s talk business.  What else should we know about you and your career so far?
Family photography is my first love and makes up the majority of my business. But I do allow room for a hand full of weddings each year. I really just love shooting “Love”! Motherhood sessions and maternity sessions are growing in popularity and those are also becoming a favorite of mine.

I think what sets me apart from others is my ability to make people feel comfortable really fast. Which then leads to an amazing photo session and photos. I never stress when clients worry that their kids (or husbands haha) won’t cooperate. I can usually win them over pretty quickly. My shoots are never boring or stressful. We have lots of fun and go with the flow and we usually become fast friends by the end.

Don’t expect very many “all looking at the camera” perfect shots…I would much rather capture your interactions and connections with each other, the funny moments, the cuddly moments, those in between moments (stolen kisses, wind blowing your hair)….those are what I want to document from our time spent together.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love everything about Huntington Beach: the surf, the sand. The pier, the sunshine, the people…..everything.
