Meet Bunny and Warren Nordhagen of The Horror Corner in Cypress

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bunny and Warren Nordhagen.

Bunny and Warren, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We used to go to a lot of conventions and events as fans/collectors. A lot of times, we would see things we thought were great, but we couldn’t always afford them. We figured, why not make “cool stuff” that’s affordable, but at the same time badass! So we did and it took off from there (after a whole lot of failing and hard work, LOL) Both myself and Warren have been creative since we each, were kids so it was a way for us to release our ideas and share them with people who are fans of horror and Halloween as much as we are.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it has not always been a smooth road. Sometimes you are really passionate about taking an idea and turning it into reality and it doesn’t always go as planned. Running your own business has a lot of learning curves and you can’t always just focus on the art. Our shop is made up of two people, Bunny and Warren, and we have to do everything from A-Z. For example: I (Bunny) did not go to art school, I actually went to school for Science. I always loved to draw, but everything I learned, I taught myself.

We experienced a house fire in January of 2018 where Bunny was injured and we lost our belongings, all of our business inventory and supplies (we worked from home) and our home itself. After a long recovery, we then had to rebuild and replace everything we lost since 2015.

The Horror Corner – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are an all year round, Horror/Halloween/Pop Culture/Nostalgia shop that offers a variety of products and collectibles. A majority of our products are handmade by us, much of which is handpainted or handcrafted. A lot of what we offer cannot be found anywhere else. A few items we are most known for are our Haunted Mansion candles, Lament Configuration boxes, painted glass ornaments and pins, stickers, and apparel with outrageous designs.

As a company, we are most proud of the support we have received over the years. From fans to vendors alike, we have been able to grow and continue growing. To us, our fans and customers are like great friends and we love talking to and interacting with them.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Seeing the smile on someone’s face and how happy we make them with a piece of artwork or a handcrafted item means we have succeeded. When you take care of people, people take care of you.

We want to continue to grow so we can share our creations with more people and as many places as possible. This is more than just a job or some internet shop to us, this is our lifestyle. We are most alive when we are able to take what’s in our minds and bring it to life.
