Meet Brenda Marciano of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Marciano

Hi Brenda, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started as an immigrant with nothing but hopes and dreams. My journey has been shaped by my mother’s strength and sacrifices. She gave up so much to give me a better life. She left behind a broken heart and the life she knew in Michoacán, Mexico arriving here without knowing a word of English, yet she figured it all out for us. Her resilience became my foundation, and because of her, I stand here today, chasing the dreams she once dreamed of.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was far from a smooth road, living in constant fear and being exposed to ongoing discrimination shaped much of my childhood. Although I was young, I could always feel my mother’s fear, especially when we were pulled over and she’d ask us to hide. I would tell myself we were just playing hide and seek in the car, trying to make sense of something I didn’t fully understand. There were moments when I felt like I didn’t belong, even though Los Angeles has been my home since I was just 22 days old. The weight of uncertainty was always there, but so was the determination to rise above it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a licensed cosmetologist specializing in hairstyling, but my journey has expanded into modeling and digital content creation. However, my most meaningful and long-awaited project is La Latina Podcast. What sets me apart is my ability to create something out of nothing, despite the odds and a system that often works against brown skinned girls like me. I refused to be a victim of my struggles instead, I turned them into my driving force.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
It’s never too late to be what you might have been. Failing is tough, but never trying at all is far worse. In a world where so many are searching for acceptance, don’t let likes or follows define your success. Social media pressures should never be the driving force behind your creativity. Create for yourself, because when you create solely for others, you risk losing the authenticity that makes your work truly meaningful.
