Meet Bre Hance of InHance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bre Hance.

Hi Bre, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Let’s pick up where we left off, shall we? The last time I spoke to you guys was in 2017, and… well, a lot has changed since then! With a lot more projects under my belt, a bigger team, a merge of companies and a partnership with my husband, an awesome new office, two more kiddos, and ummmm – a new name for the company, we’ve evolved quite a bit.

Remember back in 2017, I said I had designed, built, or furnished over 40 homes to date? Well, that number has grown to around 250! As I reflect, I remember saying how excited I was to grow and become one of the leading and most respected Design/Build Firms in the greater Los Angeles Area and fast forward now to 2023, I can confidently say, we are well on our way, and with a lot of hard-earned experience.

I always dreamt of bridging the gap between Design and Build, and while I initially (ten years ago) named my company InHance Interiors and labeled it as a Design/Build Firm, I feel like even I didn’t entirely understand what that meant, but I always knew something was there because I just love efficiency and convenience so much!

While we would partner with trusted GC’s to handle projects concept to completion for our clients and run our process as if we were a one-stop-shop, it wasn’t truly all in-house with Design and Build under one roof until around 2020. Like most of us, this was a year where we all slowed down and had time to reflect, and it wasn’t until then, my husband and I had time to dig deep into what we wanted for our businesses and our personal lives. Both being entrepreneurs and in the same industry, my husband Brandon had built out a vertically integrated real estate company, which included investments, a brokerage, a construction team, and my company was their in-house interior design arm- as the sister company and that’s because I didn’t want to work for him and run a department. A funny story I tell, but thank goodness I didn’t because I’m super excited about the brand I ran off and built. However, though— his investments were my first projects for several years as I figured out The InHanced Way, our process, and actually how to run and grow an interior design business, so you could say we’ve always kind of worked together. On top of that, it’s also where I gained my strong desire for how to bridge Design and Build.

Our two teams worked together on all of his single-family home investments, whether a new construction or a remodel, and we designed, and they built. We were always a team, operated as in-house, although two companies, so we’ve been working for years on how to refine an efficient process of how to do both. There is certainly no playbook, but being in the trenches the way we all were, experience becomes the playbook. Given all of these reps together, you can see why it felt like a no-brainer, we make the tagline ‘A Design/Build Firm’ a literal one. Not only that, but I decided to drop Interiors like Starbucks dropped coffee or Apple dropped computers, and call the company InHance, and of course- we are a Design/Build Firm. This didn’t come as an easy decision, but after eight years of growing my once, one-man-show (or, girl with a laptop and way too much energy and passion, and maybe little OCD.) company, it was time to officially rip off the band-aid and call the company what I could feel us moving towards, a more broad umbrella of a name, that gives me room to grow in whatever direction life takes me in. I can InHance anything and another fun fact, I trademarked “my style” and called it Elevated Everyday Living™, so there’s that.

The two work very hand in hand and now entering year 10, it’s the beginning of a new era- And my company has an internal rhythm I could’ve only dreamt of, awesome people, which we know are so hard to find, incredibly fun clients (for the most part – truth!) and I get to work with my husband. What a dream- most days! Haha but really, we have built such a solid foundation at home, raising our three little girls in Manhattan Beach, and now building an awesome business together that hopefully one day, one of our daughters will want to take over.

The one constant in life is change, but one thing remains the same and that is this good ol’ Arizona girl is just getting started!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
What??? A smooth road. Never. But that would be boring, right? Honestly, I can’t imagine being where I am, if mistakes didn’t happen. From poor choices of hiring to errors with our work and execution — all of it leads us to learning from our mistakes and getting better. That’s a part of life. I hate making mistakes. I hate not being good enough or not delivering an excellent experience, but we are human and over the ten years, I’ve learned to give myself and anyone who works for me grace, as long as we don’t make the same mistake twice! Haha. I’m a D1 athlete and a very competitive person. I want to be great. I strive to be the best in class with everything I do, so I naturally am a student. I want to learn, I want to lead with confidence but am open mind, so listen- merging companies, managing a fast growing team, dealing with clients and trying to exceed their expectations, learning how to work with my husband, and making sure all three of my girls were fed and bathed and attending all their personal life stuff, all at the same time, definitely has its growing pains. But- You can’t have such a refined process for your company, and life, without learning how to work out the kinks, right?

I like to call myself scrappy. Especially when the going gets tough. I roll up my sleeves, and my hubs and I have a saying to each other and our girls “to get better every day in every way”, we lead by doing, take risks, to live life for a living, and to be the maker of our meanings. There’s a million and one struggles every day, just learn from them and move on!

We’ve been impressed with InHance, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are InHance! We are a one-stop-solution for all remodel, new construction and furnishing needs- the premier Design/Build Firm in Los Angeles, and a go-to for a ton of out-of-state clients across the country.

Our goal is to elevate the lives of our clients and to make sure we have fun while doing it. We get how overwhelming the experience of building your dream home can be, and truly want our clients to enjoy the fun parts that come with building their dream home instead of dealing with the headaches and overwhelm it can cause.

I’m the founder- I created this baby, I also serve as the Principal Designer and am the head of brand and content. I have a hand dipped in all active projects— 25/25 currently! I manage an amazing team of designers and project managers that each play a key role in getting our projects from A-Z, and if you log on to any of our social platforms, you’ll see my face there, too. We try and make entertaining content, relevant to the business and my life being a mom of three, and married to a pretty awesome dude.

What sets us apart from other Design/Build firms is our fine-tuned process we call, The InHanced Way. We take care of every tiny detail that comes with a large project and have laid them out into five well-thought-out phases. We are design heavy from the beginning, so that when building a home, everything is accounted for. Down to the light bulb. We slow down in the beginning to speed up when it’s time to implement the one-of-a-kind designs our team has created for our clients’ specific needs.

On top of that, while we manage all the headaches and logistics of our client’s projects, I am all about special moments. I might be one of the most intentional people you’ll ever meet. Throughout the lifecycle of a project, I’ve baked in “Magic Moments” that serve as a pause for our clients to take a second and embrace the fun parts of designing and building their dream home. These moments include the Design Kick-off Meeting, Construction Kick-off (Where our client gets to knock down their own home in the excavator!), put handprints in the pavement, Design Presentation, and of course, a champagne toast to the reveal!! Or tequila. Whatever your jam is.

Building a custom home is a really intimate process, I know first-hand. Which is why my goal is to elevate the lives of our clients, the process, and to ultimately help them overcome the overwhelm of designing and/or building their dream home, with the goal for our clients- to love where they live.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I think what surprises people most is how relatable I am. I’ve heard I am disarming and I think it’s the greatest compliment of life. I’m not that eclectic designer you might expect. While I do love to enjoy the finer things in life and work in a luxury service, at the end of the day, I am still that girl from the suburbs of Arizona and am a sucker for a cold beer on a Friday night. (Wink wink- My Birthday was Chicken Fried by Zac Brown Band Themed.) I LOVE to live life to the fullest with my friends, throw princess cowgirl parties for my girls, blast country throughout my house any second of the day, and play beach volleyball every morning or pretty much any sport. I’m a tomboy that can be a high-end, fancy designer, that is also changing diapers, toasting to rose or shooting tequila, and embracing my trademark- Elevated Everyday Living™!
