Meet Berit Freutel of Bands of L.A. in Venice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Berit Freutel.

Berit, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Free spirits keepin’ it together.

The story is as easy as life on the Westcoast: It’s a band. Free spirits keepin’ it together. And a knot or two.

The idea of the band is basically the idea of L.A. creativity rules in this city where ideas are born from adventure. Where people come from all over the world to live their dream and be who they wanna be.

Bands of L.A. have a mission. They tie up the spirit of freedom, transformation and reinvention that the City of Angels was made of.

Wearing Bands of L.A. is a rebellious thing. It’s is not about gangsta music or spraying paroles. It’s about you: True rebels believe in what they believe in. They know who they are and do not compromise their individuality. And they will sure as hell never give up on their dreams.

Bands of L.A. are no guarantee for bliss. But a boost.

And they look damn cool.

Oh, and Bands of L.A. are vegan, too :-)!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As in every industry,we are not the only ones with a good idea and a heart full of passion. And if you take your baby to one of the fashion fairs, it’s easy to get discouraged by all the brands and products that want to make their way into the market. The secret is: not to give up. Not to look left and right too much, but keep on going. If the road gets bumpy, you try to pivot around. Be flexible. Without collapsing. I believe in stamina.

Please tell us about Bands of L.A.
Bands of L.A. is a small company. We are proud to produce everything in the city we love so much: Los Angeles. We kinda charge the Bands of L.A. with the soul of the City of Angels and be believe that the customer can feel it. We have a lot of copy cats (including big brands like GAP!) they weave our pattern and sell it less expensive than we can. But they produce in Taiwan. Their belts have no heart. We take it as a compliment though, if they copy us 🙂

We are rebels and won’t ever give up our principles / nor sell our soul.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I always loved to go to the fun fair and ride the roundabout. Eat the crazy colored candy and get a red balloon. It’s the gypsy feeling, I guess, that fascinates me. There is magic in that.
