Today we’d like to introduce you to Audra Bryant.
Hi Audra, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I was burned at 18 months old and didn’t look at myself in the mirror until I was 25 because I didn’t want to see my scars. From there I did my inner work and now I have a podcast, and book and I coach others about how they too can embrace their scars.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course not! Lol.
I had trouble accepting my physical scars. I struggled with believing in myself generally speaking. I felt that I was talented but did not have a clear vision of the work I was to do. Like many L.A. transplants, I also struggled financially to finance my dream.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am creative at heart. I have experience behind the scenes as a Casting Producer for many television shows, I have written and produced a play as well as in front of the camera/on stage as a singer, actress, comedian, and speaker.
A few of the things I am most proud of were my play (producing it was the hardest thing I’d ever done at that time) and my “I’ve Got Scars Baby!” platform (the song, the podcast, the book, and the workshops.)
My sincere desire to see people emotionally healthy and whole is hopefully what sets me apart. I believe that we all have scars of some sort (whether internal and/or external) and sometimes seeing someone reveal their scars can help us to embrace our own.
What does success mean to you?
I define success as fulfillment and balance in the areas of your choosing. (i.e. being able to fully enjoy both your career/purpose and family in a way that brings you joy).
