Meet Atlanta Cobb of Music Industry Mentor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Atlanta Cobb.

Atlanta, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Atlanta Cobb, I’m a Multi-award-winning, and Multi-platinum selling Executive, Consultant, Keynote Speaker, and founder of Artist Development platform: Music Industry Mentor – with over 100,000 combined social media followers of musicians from over 75+ countries.

Now, I coach other coaches, founders, and executives on how to build a global personal brand, and highly engaged community.

I’ve been featured in Business Insider, Music Week, Daily Dot and have spoken on large industry stages such as SXSW 2025, Eurosonic (The Netherlands) The Great Escape (UK) and Beyond The Music (UK).

With over 14 years of industry experience, I’ve helped shape the careers of #1 selling, Major Label, chart-topping artists.

I now live my dream of running my own global Coaching & Consulting business, and speaking on stages around the world.

I began very young with a passion for music, I started out learning a range of musical instruments before moving into the business side of the music industry.

Age 15 was a turning point and the start of my career in music.
It all started when I created one of Florence & the Machine’s first Fan-Made fan pages online which I grew to well over 85,000 followers, “The Florence and The Machine Army”.

This lead me to meeting other fans, and flying out to New York from London, to meet Florence herself.
Backstage at Florence’s show in Central Park, It was there I met her management team, and wangled their email and work experience.

2 months later we were all back in London, and I found myself skipping school to run up and assist Florence’s Creative Director at the time, on a London Fashion Week project.

Bingo.

I had secured my first ‘proper’ work experience in the creative industries, and I was hungry for more.

I knew at that point to lean into what I’m good at.

That is communication, talking to people, and problem-solving. I am not academic, I also knew to be successful in the Entertainment Industries, you don’t need to have a traditional degree, and in fact, experience and passion are way more favoured in these industries.

I used London Fashion Week to secure other work experience such as The National Television Awards at London’s O2, and Eurovision with Rockart Design.

From there I began managing Artists, and interning at the iconic Metropolis Studios, and I slowly started moving up the ranks.

Moving into marketing Major Recording Artists (The Script, John Legend, Tom Odell) at Sony Music, to Island Records (Drake, Post Malone) and another 4 years in Arist Management working with BRIT Award Winning, #1 Selling Becky Hill and Ella Henderson.

In 2022 I hit burnout.

I had been non-stop in music for 10 years and I was tired.
I left and went travelling and discovered TikTok.

It was at this point I moved into what feels like my true calling now, helping others via Coaching and Education.

My 2x Award-Winning coaching business – Music Industry Mentor, was born through supply on demand.

After building a global audience online of 100,000 Musicians who needed the experience and expertise I had gained from my fruitful career in music.

A lot of people tend to forget how much work can go into getting to the place that I find myself in today.

I essentially worked for free, unpaid, for around 5 years when starting out.

I had to skip school, miss out of social events all because of work.

I had to live on minimal wages for years, whilst trying to survive big city rent prices, so I could commute to Major Label offices and work from all at the cost of my mental health as I experienced severe burnout and loss of self-worth which lead me to needing years of therapy.

Now, I’ve designed a life of freedom.

My entire business is remote-based, I work on my own schedule, travel whenever I want, have unlimited holiday, choose who I want to work with, my potential of earnings is uncapped, and my entire output goes directly back to my own fulfilment.

Plus, I get to help others achieve the same.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It would be too boring if it was 100% a smooth road.

Building a business is not for everyone, you will learn resilience like no other.
There will be incredible highs and lows, and you’ll be highly tested.

I’m extremely hard on myself and set very high standards for my output and quality of work, which is a blessing and a curse sometimes.

It’s taken an enormous amount of sacrifice to get to where I am as well, no one else see’s you alone, in your apartment, missing out on years of your life in your 20s as you work 7 days a week, 18hr days back to back to get your business off the ground – people just see the end results, or the win’s on Instagram.

When in reality, what happens behind the scenes when building a business 100% by yourself, is an incredibly different story…

When I was 26, I quit my full time job at an Artist Management company, it involved me moving out of this vibrant city and away from the life I was so settled and comfortable in, away from all my friends, away from the music industry, and back into my childhood bedroom with my parents who are divorcing each other. I felt grateful I at least had somewhere to retreat too, and wanted to make sure I utilize this one-time opportunity to start all over again.

I had to do this as:

1) I had little-to-no money saved due to the terrible salary I was on.
2) I had no other job to go to – so, $0 cash flow
3) I needed to be away from distractions
4) I needed time to create without pressure of paying rent and bills

For 2 whole years, I locked IN and focused.

This meant (temporarily), missing out on a lot of things.
Birthdays, holidays, nights out, dating, shows, events. etc etc

I worked on my business and content every. single. day.
Any chance I could get, to make money online and save to re-invest into the business as I went.

The biggest turning point was when I surrendered to help, and became comfortable with investing in my skills development and education.

There’s just no way 1 person can be expected to know how to do anything.

If you can’t recognise what your future self is going to need from you, and if you stay stuck in your ways – do not expect for a positive transformation and growth to happen in your life.

When I invested in my business coach – It just so happened to be a client of mine at the time, was also a coach.

And we ended up swapping services – within 1 week of hiring a coach to help create a roadmap for me, I was up and away of launching my first, flagship coaching program for Musicians, Producers and Music Professionals: Platinum Artists.

Through doing that I grew my business to over 6 Figures, up by 448.54% from Year 1 to Year 2.

All from bootstrapping, no outside investment or funding.

Within 2 years, I was making enough to allow me to travel and be based around the world between LA, New York, London, and Europe whilst continuing to build my coaching, consulting and speaking business, which I continue to do to this day.

So just remember, Instagram is a snapshot of someone’s life. Do not compare yourself.

I use my personal Instagram as a way to document my own memories.

And for the bad ones, I choose to forget and keep locked away only within my personal journal during times of struggle.

Unfortunately, as you grow, and you achieve more – there will inevitably be some people on the outside will be watching, and they will have opinions either way, and they may even project their insecurities onto you. They aren’t able to think big yet, and you are. That’s okay, just don’t let them get in your way, pull you down, or dim your light.

And be very aware of how people react when they see you achieving your dreams, and levelling up.

Remember, as people come and go during your journey. This is all part of evolving into the leader of the business you are meant to be, as you step into someone who has gone through some of the hardest battles in business and survived to get out the other side.

The question is, what are you willing to sacrifice in order to focus and lock in for your future self?

We’ve been impressed with Music Industry Mentor, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Looking ahead – for 2025 and beyond, I now offer my resources and consulting skills to help other online coaches, business owners, and executives build and scale their social media personal brands.

As well as booking more Keynote Speaker gigs across the world.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Absolutely. My biggest advice?

Don’t wait to feel ready – just start reaching out. You will never feel 100% ready to do anything.

The best connections I’ve made came from genuine curiosity and leading with value, not a pitch.
Be human, not transactional.

When it comes to mentors, look for alignment in values, not just titles.
Look to see if they’re achieving what you want to achieve. Don’t hire people who don’t have real-world experience.

I’ve found guidance in the most unexpected places just by being honest about where I’m at and what I’m building.

Also, show up where your future self would hang out – whether that’s online communities, events, or sliding into someone’s DMs with a thoughtful message. Consistency and authenticity go a long way.
