Meet Ashley Dulaney

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Dulaney.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ashley. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born in Tupelo, ms … I always knew I wanted to be an actor… my mom and dad said that when I was a baby I would just memorize tv shows and movies – so naturally when I went to school I got my BFA in acting from the University of Mississippi also known as Ole Miss. I moved straight out after college and I started a theatre company which had a run for about three years… during that time I started doing commercial work which landed me one of my favorite jobs opposite Joan and Melissa Rivers!

After that, I branched into tv where I’ve been lucky enough to get to Guest star on bones, scandal, Brooklyn 99, workaholics, stitchers, the middle, Criminal Minds- I’ve honestly been really blessed. I was always obsessed with Lifetime so when I got to step on leading The House Sitter and support in Babysitters Black Book… well they were literally dreams come true!

I’ve also been lucky enough to recur on Days Of Our Lives, Justified and The Act in Hulu.

Has it been a smooth road?
I don’t think anyone ever has a “smooth” road. I mean to one person life could be a total dream but for that person they are looking at another person going “why not me?”

That being said before I came to LA I just kept hearing what a cold and isolating place Los Angeles could be and I was very lucky cause I never felt that. LA is for sure what you make of it and my LA has always been warm and loving and supportive and that’s mostly due to the people I surround myself with.

I was lucky enough when I first moved here to meet a woman who really took me under her wing and basically into her family and we started a theatre company together she was my mentor, acting coach and for a brief moment my manager and I just kept growing from there. I have always been surrounded by a lot of love and support
so that makes any bumps in the road just so much easier to deal with.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Well, I’m actor and I kinda do a little of everything… currently I’m recurring on fox’s 911 Lone Star and just wrapping up a project called Wisdom of Fools.

Also currently streaming is one of my favorite characters poppy Peterson on the fash life which you can find at https://www.thefashlifeseries.com/. I get the question what kinda of acting do you wanna do a lot and I always answer “anything and everything” I wanted to be open to tv, film, theatre, commercials, comedy and drama. I feel like I’ve just been an open portal and I’ve been so lucky cause I have literally loved every job I’ve done.

One thing that’s super important to me is to be grateful and remember always how many people helped you get where you are. For me I have just had so many people push and fight for me and that’s always at the forefront of my mind… from casting to producers and directors- my family and friends I wouldn’t be here doing what I love without them.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Los Angeles – my favorite thing is the melting pot aspect. I love seeing so many people from all of the world that are pursuing their dreams. That’s the coolest part to me… I remember hearing LA described as the heart of tv and film and it pumps out to the rest of the body.. that just always stuck with me- we are so lucky as entertainers cause there are so many places we can live and pursue our dream now but to me LA is always the heart.. in terms of liking least? That’s hard cause it’s all so subjective to what’s going on in that moment. I guess the only thing would be people not really taking time for others can be a problem I’ve seen. We are all so focused on our goals or what’s happening in our lives we don’t always notice those around us.
