Meet Aron Kearney of Aron Kearney Photography in San Gabriel Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aron Kearney.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started in college when I was attending Cal State University, Los Angeles for a Film and Video Broadcasting degree. During that time, I took a few photography classes as electives. I interned in the “Hollywood Biz” and discovered that it wasn’t for me and in turn started investing more of my time in photography. After I graduated I wasn’t sure exactly what kind of photography to pursue, I thought I might enjoy photojournalism but by 2004 newspapers weren’t hiring staff photographers. I ended up getting a job for a portrait studio and continued to develop my skills in photographing portraits. I soon started to get some freelances gigs and that bloomed into my portrait company I have today, Aron Kearney Photography. When I’m not shooting portraits I’m out shooting landscape, seascape, and cityscape photographs.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My biggest struggle I would say is getting my name out there. Living in Los Angeles can be challenging because there are so many professional photographers. It doesn’t make it very easy to tap into a saturated market.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Aron Kearney Photography is based in the San Gabriel Valley. I specialize fun, memorable, and unique portrait sessions. My goal is to capture that special moments such as a newborn’s first portraits, a child’s birthday, family portraits, couples and engagements, and graduation milestones. I also really enjoy photographing professional headshots, the more creative the person the more creative and enjoyable the photoshoot.

I also have a love for landscape and fine art photography. Not much brings me the kind of joy I experience when capturing the earth’s beauty and wonder through my lens. I get the amazing opportunity to explore and bring people closer to places that harvest tranquility and bring GLORY to the Lord God Almighty, who created it all. I get really excited about the idea of people hanging my photographs on their walls as pieces of art.

What were you like growing up?
I was a quiet kid who gravitated towards artsy stuff. I remember in 5th grade then the other boys were playing sports or make-believe games, I was chasing the girls around. I never cared much for sports except baseball. As a kid, I loved baseball and collecting baseball cards. I really enjoyed music, writing songs, and poems. As I got older I became more interested in visual media. I was known for being creative and a goofball. I really fell in love with film in high school and I thought that was the direction my life was headed but life seems to steer you in a direction most the time.
