Today we’d like to introduce you to Antoinette Goodall Golden.
Antoinette, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In 2012 after I graduated from High School, I wanted to go to school for Law but unfortunately things weren’t in my favor so I switched my career path. I decided to attend Los Angeles Trade Technical College which is located in Downtown LA & take a trade. Growing up, I would always see my mom cooking in the kitchen & it looked interesting and fun, so I decided that I would take up Culinary Arts and see how far I could go. I applied my for Culinary Classes and got accepted into the program. I was overjoyed & happy that I was on my career path of my choice. I attended school everyday until graduation. I’ve always told myself that I wanted to be a caterer or have my own food truck. I started my own catering company in 2016 “Annie’s Delytes Catering”. I specialize in Birthday Parties, Weddings, Funerals, Private Events & more. I would say I do all American Foods with a spin on it. I have a team that works with me for my events. I enjoy every bit of being able to feed my clients & knowing that I’m the reason for the BIG smiles.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road. I lost my mother two weeks after my birthday in 2008. I believe if my mother was still here, she would be able to help me along the way. Everything I do now is for my mother & I hope I’m making her proud. Trying to learn things on your own or as you go is very difficult. If I have a big party to serve, I need to know the quantity of each item, how much I’m going to charge how many people and more. Being a caterer is not easy in the beginning but it gets better along the way.
Annie’s Delytes Catering – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Annie’s Delytes Catering is a catering company where we specialize in special events of your choice. We serve, set-up, stay the entire time of your special event if need be. We are there to serve our clients. My Catering Company does All American Food with a lil twist. We do hor’derves, main meals, buffet style and more with a lil twist on it. We are known for our “Meatloaf Cupcakes” & “Spicy Chicken Egg Rolls”. As a company, we are most proud of our growth as a company. It hasn’t always been easy getting clients or people who want you to cater to their special events. But I’m forever grateful for my clients and the ones who support me.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
One thing that always comes to my mind about success & that’s a favorite quote of mines, is “Opportunities don’t happen. You create them” – Chris Grosser
What I always get from that quote is opportunities don’t always happen for people. But if you wanna succeed in life and be happy about something that you did, you have to “create them” & be proud of it.
