Today we’d like to introduce you to Angeline Mercedes
Angeline, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I came to LA about 2 years ago in the efforts of getting my masters in Criminology. I figured my life path would take me down the criminal law aspect and I would engage in that realm. Especially since I have had past experience such as working over at the Department of Justice. Yet as of last year I recently got into modeling and it has been a great sense of stepping into a more comfortable zone and I have been able to unleash all forms of creativity. From having a say in what shoots I’m apart of, what the themes are, heavily involved with makeup and hair teams. I truly love every creative process of what I am doing.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think regardless of the struggles that people do see, I think it’s best to acknowledge the struggles that people don’t. I think the mental state can sometimes be daunting and I find myself questioning if I am truly worth being apart of something like the modeling world. Comparisons can always make or break a person, but I find solace in knowing that the type of vibe I bring to any situation is very much unique to myself. I think when we are resilient and comfortable in our own skin we can almost always achieve what we want.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
So I did start off in LA by making music and this meant from being apart of the whole mixing as well as creating vocals and being heavily involved in the writing process. Music has always been a love of mine and a huge dream since I was little. I think my proudest moment would have to be when I got to perform a song we had just made over at the Hollywood Bowl. It was a surreal moment but it was mine. I think my creative itch just became worse because through music I really enjoyed the themes and concepts we would come up with for shoots or albums and singles, etc. that I then branched out into modeling and I have to say there is nothing like it.
How do you define success?
I think success is seen through love and care. I believe that when we love what we’re doing and we put so much into it we are successful in a way that doesn’t need to be targeted by monetary values or recognition. While those may be nice at the end of the day I always say that we are the one who lie in our own beds and if you’re not happy with what you’re doing you truly aren’t successful.
