Meet Angela Anderson of #1 HR Expert in Ontario

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Anderson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Angela. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I began my career in Human Resources almost 20 years ago working in small to large

Fortune 500 company’s.  I’m currently a Director of HR for an Aerospace company. I really enjoy being an HR Leader where I can provide guidance, business strategies, leadership development, diversity & inclusion and enhancing a positive company culture.

I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and when I was in transition from Corporate America back in 2009 I had the opportunity to start my business the #1 HR Expert. 

I started #1 HR Expert when I felt that the staffing industry needed some personal attention to the way they treated their candidates. The feedback I always heard from candidates is that they just felt like a number and the staffing agencies didn’t care for their personal stories.

I also could relate to those stories when I became unemployed and turned to staffing agencies and they treated you so rigid and never gave you any personal attention. That’s how the #1 HR Expert was started out of necessity in the market.

The #1 HR Expert has developed over the years into a full-fledge HR Firm offering HR Consulting, Recruiting & Staffing for various companies, HR Mentoring/Internships, Training & Development, Resume Service and Speaking Engagements.

Currently, #1 HR Expert is seeking Venture Capitalists & Angel Investors to expand and grow the business to the next level.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Over the past ten years, it has been with ups and downs in the business. The road to success is never an overnight sensation but, you must stick with it. The struggles I encountered was funding for marketing and providing payroll for my staff.  The business is family owned and operated where we have all pitched in. I learned real quick that it’s better to outsource things because your time is limited and you can’t do everything yourself.

#1 HR Expert – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
#1 HR Expert is a leader in Niche HR Staffing & Recruiting specializing in the placement of Human Resources Professionals, but will also place other professionals. We offer Direct Hire, Contract to Hire, and Contract placements. We deliver the perfect candidate to our clients who are seeking top notch talent nationwide. We also provide HR Consulting, HR Training, HR Mentoring/Internships, and Resume Services.

I’m proud of the company because we’ve been able to be in business for the past ten years. This is a big accomplishment and not a lot of businesses make it past three years. The

#1 HR Expert is different from other HR Consulting firms because we also offer a training course that helps people get into human resources. It’s called “How to Break Into HR in a Day”. We are bridging the gap between what you’ve learned in school vs. what you learn on the job. The course has a huge success rate of students landing jobs in HR. Our goal is to get 1,000 people into HR by 2021. Follow the hashtag campaign called #1000inHR.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my HR career is mentoring my HR Students. I enjoy hearing about their success stories and landing the job. I love to develop the mentees and watch their careers flourish as I continue to mentor them in my private Facebook group.
