Today we’d like to introduce you to Amir Bayat
Hi Amir, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am Amir Bayat, a composer and pianist. I was born in Iran and at the age of four, my family and I migrated to Baku, Azerbaijan. After graduating from the Rostropovich School of Music in Baku, we moved to Los Angeles, USA. For the past thirteen years, I have been residing in the United States, dedicating myself to composing and performing concerts in the world music genre. Recently, I had the honor of receiving two prestigious awards from the Global Music Awards in the categories of world music and duet performance.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Unfortunately, no. As an independent artist starting my professional career in a country where I had no background or support, I faced numerous challenges. Finding a stable source of income and managing day-to-day living were significant concerns. Additionally, establishing connections and gaining the trust and affection of the public for my work undoubtedly came with its own set of difficulties and hardships.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am active in film score composition as well as performing and composing fusion music. I am honored to be recognized as a global music artist. One of the most important aspects for me, which I always strive to maintain, is the presence of Eastern musical roots in my works, particularly the music of Azerbaijan and Iran. In my opinion, this reflects the authenticity in an artist’s work.
How do you define success?
Success, to me, is defined by the ability to stay true to one’s artistic vision while making a meaningful impact on the audience. It’s about personal and professional growth, creating works that resonate deeply with people, and contributing to the cultural and artistic landscape. True success is also measured by the fulfillment and joy derived from one’s creative endeavors and the lasting legacy left behind.
