Meet Alyssa Matthews

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Matthews.

Hi Alyssa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story. 
I got my start in the entertainment industry back in 2022 when I moved to Louisiana, but I was a part of plays and theatrical performances as a child. I moved to Louisiana for law school in 2022 and accidentally stumbled into acting after meeting a casting director in New Orleans. To get experience in the industry and on set, I spent time on the set of “Renfield” which starred Nicolas Cage, and everything went up from there. I then starred in “Bottoms” an MGM Production and took on multiple projects during the filming of it. I started training and honing my craft by taking classes with one of the best acting coaches in Hollywood and have been acting ever since. I’ve now had auditions/roles with Paramount, Tyler Perry Studios, and even Hulu. 

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
For me, acting has definitely not been a smooth road. When I started acting, I was in law school and struggled to have the perfect balance of work and school. I almost never had time for myself or even a social life. Most of my friends at that time were cast and crew that I would meet on different sets. I was filming overnight most nights and long hours during the day as well and always found myself tired. I’ve also struggled with coming across different situations in the industry that are tempting when it comes to questioning my morals and values, but regardless, I don’t intend to stray away from the set of values I have and have learned to stand by that no matter what. 

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an actor, student, and content creator. I would say that my specialty when it comes to different genres is Comedy. I have a goofy sense of humor, and I thrive in films that are based on making people laugh and bringing a smile to the faces of people that watch the film. I’ve been in many films and series and would most be known for “Bottoms” and Disney Plus’s “National Treasure: Edge Of History.” I’m most proud of the fact that I have overcome every obstacle thrown my way and stopped caring about other’s opinions when it comes to honing my craft and making it into what I want it to be. I think what sets me apart from others is my motivation and my drive to be the best at what I do. I’ve come to learn that there are people who give up after being rejected once or “failing” at something that they do, but I have never done that and believe that is why I am where I am today. 

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I think a surprising fact that most people might not know about me is that I’m still in school pursuing dual degrees. I’m currently working on my JD and master’s degree and will have both within the next year.
