Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Kube.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always considered myself to be an artist. Maybe it was encouraged during my childhood but nonetheless it’s been a large part of who I am and always have been. I graduated LAVC with a degree in Fine Art, managed a dream job at Warner Bros and then at Sony as an animation artist for several years. Around 2001 it became difficult to stay employed so I ventured into other things to keep my boat floating. I could never give up art however and took up freelance art projects and selling my paintings at art festivals all over the Southwest. That’s a hard life with no guarantee of a decent living. I threw in the towel after a couple years. I ‘ve been coaching art to folks who have a desire to let their creative side out. For a while, I was involved with rallying other local artists to show their work publicly at the Artist Village, part of the NoHo Farmers Market. I’ve painted a couple utility boxes around town, a couple murals here and there, but mostly get my kicks painting on canvas and coaching others with their artwork.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
An artist’s road is never smooth. There have been times of absolute frustration and others of exhilaration. The business side of being an artist is typically challenging to most creatives. I’ve learned that it’s necessary to get into marketing and be somewhat business minded unless I want to just keep all my artwork in storage. I would still paint no matter.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Alexandra Kube Fine Art – what should we know?
I create and sell paintings. I also start people on their creative journeys. I coach art and I throw social art parties for small groups.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
If I were to even call myself successful, (and what IS successful?), I’d have to say Integrity. Sticking to what is in your heart with little to no compromise. I paint whatever I feel like painting. When I coach, I truly want that other person to be inspired and to feel good about what they’ve done. So, I stick to what I know and what I love.
Pricing:
- Original paintings sell from $200 to $4000.
- Paint Parties are $50 per person (all materials included)
- Private art coaching is $60 per hour
