Meet Alex Porter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Porter.

Alex, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Being raised by a church-going single mother and grandmother, music has always been an enormous passion of mine. I started as a professional drummer at the age of 15, touring and playing for some of the biggest names in the industry. My talent is truly God-given. As I continued my journey, I discovered that I was also blessed with ability to sing. It wasn’t until I participated in a showcase at the House of Blues in Hollywood that I realized I was on the right path and exactly where I needed to be. Stevie Wonder was present at that showcase and it was his words of praise and encouragement that gave me the confidence I needed to realize there really was a place for me in this industry as long as I press forward. Now here I stand, stronger than ever ready to share my gifts with the world as an emerging RnB singer with an authentic 90’s RnB sound. Real RnB is on the comeback!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being in the entertainment industry since I was 15 years old, I’ve learned how to make constructive criticism my best friend. Through this journey, you learn so much: who to connect with, who not to connect with, which individuals have your best interest at heart vs who’s out to just take advantage of you, which deals are good to take vs not take, etc.  Obstacles become part of the journey. It’s what you do with those obstacles you face which separate you from the successful group vs the group that gives up.  With each obstacle or block in your path comes the strength and wisdom to get through it. So, no the journey isn’t smooth, but you embrace the challenges through the journey which become a part of your story to make you legendary.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I am an R & B singer and songwriter.  I’ve been professionally in this industry since the age of 15. Starting out as a professional drummer for some of your most iconic names you know today. I love what I do. I specialize in the art of connecting through music. I write and make songs that people can relate to; songs that you can actually feel in whatever current situation you’re in. What makes me different then most singers in the industry is my ability to instantly touch and inspire others through music to become a better version of themselves. I’m most proud of my gift and ability to sing. Singing is my escape place. When I’m live on stage performing in front of people it’s like I can feel the energy and vibes of each person in the audience.  The feeling is unreal and makes me feel like I’m on another planet.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future is to become one of the greats in my field. Win Grammy’s, star in movies and films, make iconic music that people will remember and play till the end of time. You know. Have that MJ, Prince, Whitney Houston type of legacy. I recently completed my newest hit single, “Take This Chance,” which will be releasing soon on all major platforms.  When it’s all said and done, I want to be remembered as a legend.  I want to spread as much positivity throughout this world that I possibly can. That’s what I plan for the future.
