Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandro Mateos Rodriguez.
Alejandro, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised in Mexico City. During high school, my interest in photography and cinematography began. I used to cover some events of my school and take portraits of my friends. My interest in these visual arts kept growing and growing, so after I graduated I decided to move to Los Angeles and study photography. Since I have been here, I have taken pictures of the architectural landmarks of the city, I have worked on various independent movie productions and documented the protests that have taken place since the election of Donald Trump.
Has it been a smooth road?
Like everything, it hasn’t been a smooth road. I have faced some struggles. There is a huge competition of people creating content. Being in another country with a different view/mentality and trying to adapt myself has been another kind of struggle.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am a photographer/cinematographer who is focused on making movies with great visuals and photos with an appealing aesthetic. My portfolio goes from fashion to architecture and from documentary to street photography.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel Los Angeles has a lot to offer. It is built from a great diversity of cultures and landscapes. I would recommend it as a creative city where your work can increase massively due to what the city has to offer.
