D.P. Weddings was founded over seven years ago by world renowned videographer, editor and special effects expert, Aaron Benitez. He moved from Seattle, WA to Los Angeles, CA with a strong passion to direct music videos.
Aaron started under a photography team who needed a videographer for a particular wedding. After working with the photographer on a few events, Aaron realized his specific style of shooting and editing was very sought after by couples who were looking for a more artistic video. Due to the increase in demand, he decided to start a wedding videography company focused on his unique style.
Since its founding, D.P. Weddings has served Los Angeles and destination weddings with a small tight knit team of head videographers. Along with being personally trained by him in the D.P. Weddings’ style, several of our head videographers have graduated from the same film school that Aaron attended at Biola University. We are a tireless group of borderline workaholics united by our passions in life: film, music, people, travel, and most importantly — emotion. Capturing an emotion in a creative and meaningful way is never easy, but it’s the process and rewards of capturing these moments on the most important day of your life that keep us coming back to the challenge.
“D.P.” stands for “Director of Photography”. In the film industry, the D.P. is the chief over the camera crew in a movie.
It goes along with the idea that our 3 – 5 minute highlights are inspired by music videos. Our goal is simple: capture the emotion and story one day in the most moving way possible. This means not only capturing the events of the day, but capturing them in a way that utilizes the best possible movement, angles, and lighting. We are young yet experienced filmmakers that consistently deliver innovative, fresh, and clean wedding cinema. We stay current on new trends and incorporate them into a constantly progressing style. Most importantly, we are always looking to make our next video better than the last!
Additionally, Aaron has a passion for educating and training young videographers in their craft. Many have great talent but lack the resources to grow. He has developed an educational website where we offer free tutorials to over 200,000 subscribers around the world.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
For the most part yes! We have seen tremendous success, growth, and innovation produced since the birth of D.P. Weddings. We would consider ourselves to be a grassroots company that has grown quickly through word of mouth by friends, family, colleges, and referrals.
Because our style is so unique and a higher end filming style, many of our head videographers are very professional and used to working in the film industry. Through Aaron’s mentorship and training, each of them have developed into amazing connectors with our clients. They are able to educate and inform our clients on what makes us unique and their talents unique in the wedding industry.
It is important to differentiate your style and services in a saturated market and industry. Our team is always working hard to get ahead of the trends that align with our creative style.
